Important Announcement From Mr. Neely
Dear Cypress Bay Parents, Students and Faculty,
It has been almost 46 years since I first started my career as a teacher with the Broward County Public School system. During those years, I served as an Assistant Principal, an Elementary School Principal, a Middle School Principal, and finally for the last 20 years, the Principal of Cypress Bay High School, the place we all affectionately refer to as the “Bay”. Out of all positions, Cypress Bay has been the most rewarding and fulfilling. For more than a year, during the planning and building stages of this remarkable school, my office consisted of a desk within an aluminum trailer. That aluminum trailer was replaced with one of the most special and sought out public schools in South Florida. I am humbled and so very proud of what we have accomplished as community partners. I will be forever grateful to our students, parents and faculty for their commitment with making Cypress Bay High School, I believe, the very best public high school in the state!
It has been a privilege to be part of the lives of so many amazing young men and women, and to humbly serve as their Principal. I have also been honored to work with and develop some of the best administrators, teachers, and support staff, dedicated to educating and inspiring our children to achieve their highest potential. While my love and support for our school is as strong as ever, it is time for me to move on to the next chapter of my life. I am thrilled to share with you that our Intern Principal, Kassandra Fried will be taking over as Principal for the 2019-2020 school year. I have been lucky enough to work side by side with Mrs. Fried since the school opened. She started her career at Cypress Bay as a French teacher and quickly moved into a leadership position before becoming an Assistant Principal at Falcon Cove Middle School. Upon returning to Cypress Bay seven years ago, she has been preparing through numerous leadership roles to become the Intern Principal and take this next step. Her proficiency in four languages, building community relationships, academic instructional leadership, and strong rapport with students and parents make her the ideal candidate.
Mrs. Fried has been a resident of the Weston community for close to 20 years. She is a mother of four amazing children and two beloved stepchildren. Her husband is an attorney and an active member in Weston for nearly 20 years. Her oldest daughter, a four-year varsity soccer player and the Sun Sentinel player of the year, recently graduated from Cypress Bay. She is now attending LSU as a member of their soccer team. Her triplet boys recently completed their freshmen year and her two stepchildren will be going into the ninth and eleventh grade at the Bay.
I value her passion, love and understanding for Cypress Bay High School and the Weston community. I am certain that she will continue with the high standards and values that we embody. I will forever have Cypress Bay High School in my heart. Thank you for the lifelong memories and the love you all have shared along our journey. You are all so special in so many ways.
Aloha the Big Kahuna
