Let me introduce you to our two new Brace cadets for the 2021-2022 school year, Michelle Baeza and Angie Barrientos. Brace cadets are high school students who implement special projects in their schools to help their peers.
In the spring of 2019, Broward County public schools piloted Brace Cadets, a peer-to-peer initiative that leverages the power of peer influence to help more students complete the steps needed to apply and succeed in college. With guidance from their Brace Advisor, cadets implement school-based projects that help build a college-going culture and guide peers through the steps to attend college.
Michelle and Angie have chosen to work with ESOL 11th graders to help them learn how to use Naviance to search and apply for scholarships.
