National recognition for Taravella High Academy of Finance

The Academy of Finance at JP Taravella High School is among 40 career academies that were recently awarded NAF's distinguished level recognition.  The academy has received distinguished level four years in a row.

The designation is given to organizations that have reached Model level on NAF's annual assessment. Model level is determined by an academy's score on the assessment, which measures strengths and challenges in implementing NAF's results driven educational design, followed by an onsite visit to the academy. Some of the academies meet additional standards to reach the distinguished level, NAF's highest level of achievement.

"This recognition is a testament to all those who help make our academy a success," said Laurie Acosta, Taravella's NAF Academy of Finance Lead Teacher. "Without our students, teachers, administrators, business and community partners, we couldn't achieve this level of success."

"It is an honor and a privilege each year to recognize those academies that have exhibited exceptional fidelity to an educational design that prepares students for college and career success," said Katherine Blasik, Vice President, Research and Evaluation, at NAF.
