FALL 2020 DUAL ENROLLMENT/EARLY ADMISSION INFORMATION

 

Broward College Fall 2020 Dual Enrollment - Updated Plan Due to COVID 19

Due to COVID 19, Broward College is updating and altering the process for how students and counselors complete the DE Enrollment Process.

 

Fall Dual Enrollment will occur in phases:

Phase I – Continuing DE Students

Step 1: Continuing dual enrollment students will access the “Dual Enrollment Recommendation” Form on the West Broward website

Step 2: Students fill out the form and send back to the high school counselor by email. Must follow exact instructions to fill in and submit PDF.

Step 3: Counselor will contact student, if necessary.

Step 4: Counselor completes the Dual Enrollment Recommendation Form with recommended courses and number of approved credits for each student who still meets the unweighted high school GPA minimum of 3.0 and who already has qualifying test scores.

Step 5: Counselor will send completed forms to BC

ALL FORMS MUST COME DIRECTLY FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR. NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM STUDENTS OR PARENTS.

DUE DATE: APRIL 30TH, 2020

Phase II – New Students with test scores

Step 1: Students must confirm they have the qualifying gpa and test scores. Check for initial eligibility requirements at broward.edu/dual.

Step 2: Students apply to BC online and create account.

Step 3: Students access and fill out the DE Form found on the West Broward website, and sends back to the high school counselor via email. In addition, student must attach additional PDF of qualifying test score.

Step 4: Counselor will contact student, if necessary.

Step 5: Counselor sends completed forms accompanied by qualifying test scores to BC.

ALL FORMS MUST COME DIRECTLY FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR. NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED FROM STUDENTS OR PARENTS.

DUE DATE: MAY 8TH, 2020

Phase III – New Students with no test scores

Step 1: Student MUST confirm that they have the qualifying GPA (must be 3.0 unweighted gpa-check Virtual Counselor) Student MUST read the Fall 2020 DE Information sheet listed below.

Step 2: Student creates BC account online. Student emails counselor and MUST include Name, grade level, BC ID. Counselor will email back the PERT Ticket (DE Testing Referral Form). See attachment for online PERT testing instructions.

Step 3: If student has met minimum test requirements in all 3 subject areas, student will complete Dual Enrollment recommendation form including writing in all 8 possible courses for Fall. See broward.edu/dual for complete list of approved courses.

Step 4: Student will email counselor the completed DE Recommendation Form along with the complete copy of test scores (in one email).

Step 5: Counselor will verify student qualifies for DE and will approve DE form.

Step 6: Counselor sends completed DE Recommendation Form for to BC and confirms submission with student.
