BCPS Receives $7.7 Million in State Funds to Boost Career and Technical Education
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is pleased to announce it has been awarded close to $7.7 million in state funds through the Workforce Development Capitalization Incentive Grant (CAP Grant). This significant investment will bolster Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, providing students with the skills and certifications needed to succeed in high-demand industries.
The CAP Grant funds will directly support secondary and post-secondary CTE programs across a range of in-demand fields, including:
- Aerospace Technology
- Industrial Biotechnology
- Digital Media
- Information Technology
- Automotive Service Technology
- Healthcare

Career Dual-Enrollment
The funds will enable BCPS to acquire cutting-edge resources, including updated equipment and industry-aligned curriculum, to ensures students receive the most relevant and effective training, preparing them for a competitive and ever-changing job market. The investment will foster innovation within the CTE programs and contribute to building a skilled workforce that meets the needs of both the local and global economy.
A key focus is expanding Career Dual Enrollment programs at Broward Technical Colleges – (Atlantic, McFatter and Sheridan), which allow students to earn industry certifications in high-skill, high-wage fields while still in high school. The CAP Grant will enhance these opportunities in areas like Automotive Service Technology, Business Management, Database Application Development, EKG Technology, Game/Simulation/Animation Programming, Network Systems Administration and Welding Technology.
"This funding represents a transformative investment in the future of our students and our community," said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. "It empowers students by providing clear career pathways with state-of-the-art technology, certifications and dual enrollment opportunities, preparing them for successful careers and contributing to our region's economic growth.”
This grant underscores the importance of Career, Technical, Adult and Community Education (CTACE) programs in equipping students with the tools they need to thrive in a variety of fields, including healthcare, technology, business, engineering and more. BCPS is committed to strengthening our community by providing pathways to success, and this funding will play a crucial role in achieving that goal.
