BCPS Kicks Off Family and Community Engagement Week with Family Fun Day on Sunday, November 13
In honor of Florida Family Engagement Month, which is celebrated in November, Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) is proud to recognize the week of November 13 – 19, 2022, as Family and Community Engagement Week. The recognition highlights the crucial role parents and families play in their children’s education and the importance of the partnership between schools and families in supporting students’ learning and motivating children to succeed – not just in school, but in life.
The celebration kicks off on Sunday, November 13, with the second annual Family Fun Day, presented by the BCPS Office of Family and Community Engagement and Broward County Parks and Recreation. Attendees will enjoy performances by students in BCPS 21st Century Learning Programs, family board games, fitness activities, free food and learn about resources available through Broward Schools and local community organizations. Also, each child will receive at least two books to add to their home library. The event takes place at Delevoe Park, 2520 N.W. Sixth Street, Fort Lauderdale, from 1 – 4 p.m.
During Family and Community Engagement Week, schools throughout the District will host activities to celebrate and honor parents, guardians and caregivers. The Office of Family and Community Engagement is also inviting families to follow them on Twitter at @face_bcps to participate in the Family and Community Engagement Week Social Media Challenge. Every morning, a new challenge will be posted. Families should share their responses to the challenge using #BCPS_WeAreFamily for the opportunity to win a prize.
