Student Attendance

Student attendance at school on time, daily, with no early sign-out is imperative to student success.  We are at a critical time in the year when we need every student in school daily to ensure students are prepared for the next level of learning.  Parents, please do not sign students out early unless it is critically important to do so.  Every minute of the day is important for students’ academic and emotional growth. Please try to schedule appointments on days off from school. Also, if your child is absent due to illness or another approved reason, you must call in absence on our attendance line 754-322-6652 or you can follow the instructions in your email to report the absence using our website. Please, I implore you to send students to school daily unless they are not feeling well.  Again, please also refrain from signing students out early unless it is absolutely necessary.  Consistent, on time and regular attendance equals increased student achievement and success.  Thank you for your anticipated cooperation as we continue to strengthen our parent-school partnership.  Thank you for your continued support. Have a great evening.

District Attendance Information

Regular attendance is a key factor in a child's academic success. Regular attendance is when a student attends more than 95% of the academic school year; this may include up to 8 absences in a 180-day school year.

The Florida Legislature finds the association with poor academic performance and nonattendance to be critical to improving student performance. Good attendance habits lead to improved student learning and achievement.

Parents are required to report the reason that their child is not physically present in school. Each parent of a child within compulsory attendance age is responsible for the child's school attendance. When a child must be absent, the parent must report the reason for absence to their school's Attendance Manager.Parents must communicate about the absence using one of the three following methods offered by the District:

  1. Online Absence Reporting Form on the school website. On the website, click CONTACT on the main menu, select "Report an Absence." Click the "Report Absence Online" link at the top of the page to fill out the form.  or
  2. Call the Attendance Hotline to leave a voice message at 754-323-6652 and leave the child’s name, teacher name, and reason for absence; or
  3. A written note is delivered to the Attendance Manager upon the first day of returning to school.Students must be in school unless the absence has been permitted or excused for one of the reasons listed on the website.

21-22 NEE Welcome Back & Important Updates

As we prepare to welcome our students and staff back from winter break, we want
to advise you of some revised health and safety protocols.

At its special meeting on Friday, December 31, 2021, the School Board voted to make face coverings mandatory for all visitors and vendors while inside schools, administrative offices
and district vehicles until further notice.

Our school will continue to offer free voluntary COVID-19 testing for students.

Parents must have a signed school health services consent form on file and must complete and sign the testing consent form if they want their child to receive this service.

Links to these forms are available on our website.

Hardcopies of the forms are also available in the office.

Lastly, as COVID-19 positivity rates continue to rise in our county, we have
two requests. While face coverings are not required for students, we strongly
encourage parents to send their children to school with face coverings. We also
ask that you extend a measure of grace to us as the rising positivity rates may impact our staffing, as well as some school and district operations.

We will communicate any changes in a timely manner.

As always, the health and safety of our students and staff members remain our highest priorities.

If you have questions or need assistance, please call the school at 754-323-6650.

Also, a flyer was sent home in your child's backpack about how our school is hosting The NED Show on November 9th.

This will be a live streaming all school event where a world-class performer takes our students on an interactive educational journey with storytelling, illusions, yo-yo tricks, and humor.

On the flyer, you will find information about purchasing a yo-yo. The yo-yo sale will take place from November 9th through the 16th.

Thank you for helping to support our school goals.

Please listen for this week's updates.

Your child's attendance is very important and students need to be in school each day for the full day of learning.

Please avoid early sign-outs unless for emergencies.
If your child is absent, the absence must be called in or reported via the website in order to be excused.

We regularly update our website with important information.

Please check our school web page each week for these updates, information and for resources to help your children at home.

Please support our school community and join the PTA. We also welcome you to join our PTA meetings each month and get involved in the many opportunities that PTA has to offer.

Our next PTA meeting will take place right after our SAC and SAF meeting on Monday, November 15th. We hope to see you there.

First Grade Enrollemnt

Thank you for all your support during the 2021-2022 school year.

We are off to a wonderful start.

Nova Eisenhower experienced a growth in the number of enrolled first grade students for the 2021-2022 school year. All Broward County Public Schools are required to adhere to class size requirements.

As a result of the growth in the number of first grade students, some students will be moved from their current class to create an additional first grade class.

The additional class will result in smaller class sizes of 18 students in each first grade class.

Students forming the new class will be placed with a certified teacher.  Students affected will receive a letter later this week informing parents of the start date of the new class and a date to come in to meet the new teacher.

I assure you that my staff and I will make this a smooth transition for your child.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me, Mrs. Tyghter or my Assistant Principal, Mrs. Diamond.

Re-engage in school

There are thousands of children in our School District who have not enrolled for the 2021/22 school year and have not returned to our classrooms.

We are trying to locate them to help them re-engage in school so they can join their friends and teachers and continue their education.

On Saturday. September 25 and Sunday, September 26, hundreds of Broward Teachers Union representatives, Broward County School Board members, Broward County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. Vickie Cartwright and District staff are walking door-to-door to help find and re-engage these students.

You’ll recognize them in your neighborhood by their blue “Ready for You!” T-shirts.

Please help us find these children. If you know or are aware of a student who is not attending school or not attending school regularly, call our school office at 754-323-6650 or email readyforyou@browardschools.com.

You’ll be helping a child get the quality education needed to reach their highest potential. Thank you.

We also have an update to share from our PTA. The PTA is hard at work finalizing the transition of the newly elected board into our new school year. We will be ready to get started in the upcoming weeks with vintage spirit shirt sales, as well as the presale for the new spirit shirts.

In the meantime, please support our Fall Scholastic Book Fair which goes live on Sept. 24 and runs through Oct. 7th, at this site listed in this email message. https://www.scholastic.com/bf/novadwightdeisenhower

This post comes to advise parents of a virtual challenge that is circulating on social media.

This post comes to advise parents of a virtual challenge that is circulating on social media.

Students are being encouraged to destroy school property, record the activity, and post video footage on TikTok.

Parents, we are asking you to please have a conversation with your children to discourage them from engaging in any acts of violence and destruction of school property.

Students who participate in acts of this nature will be subject to strict disciplinary consequences and potential criminal charges.

As always, the safety and security of our students and staff members remain our highest priorities.

We thank you for assisting us to communicate this important message to your child.

Dismissal - 8/22/21

Thank you very much to all car rider parents that followed the procedures.
We had about 95% of our parents follow the procedures and it made all the difference.
The car line was clear by 4:17 pm on Friday!

Your cooperation with following the procedures made all the difference!  Thank you.
Let's do it again every day this week and for the rest of the year.
With 100% of all parents following the procedures, we will have a clear car line by 3:59 pm!  Here are a few reminders to keep everyone safe:

Davie Police has asked that you only enter from Davie Rd onto 39th street.
You will receive a citation from Davie Police if you make a left turn into our parking lot during dismissal.  Again, you can only make a right turn into our parking lot at dismissal.

Please email your child's teacher and ask for a car tag to hang on your rearview mirror.  Write the child's name, teacher's name, and grade level in large, dark letters.
If you need more car tags for multiple people in your family, email your teacher.

All car rider parents must stay in the car.
Students will not be dismissed to parents that walk up.

Walkers are students that live less than 2 miles from the school.
If you wish to designate your child as a walker, you must notify your child's teacher in writing via email or a note by 9 am.

Changes to dismissal must be sent in writing via a written note or an email by 9 am to your child's teacher.

Children are not dismissed for early release after 3 pm.

We look forward to 100% cooperation of arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure everyone's safety.
Your cooperation made all the difference on Friday!  Let's work to get to 100% !!

Meet & Greet/Open House:

Welcome back to the 21/22 school year. We are looking forward to having all of our students back on campus. Tuesday, August 17th is Meet and Greet and Open House.

You will receive a call from your child's assigned teacher by August 16th. 4th and 5th Grade is from 9:15-10:30, 2nd and 3rd Grade is from 10:45-12:00, and Kindergarten and 1st Grade is from 12:15-1:30. During this time students will be able to meet their teacher and drop off school supplies.

Parents will also attend the open house presentation from their child's classroom teacher. Due to space and safety precautions, only one parent or guardian will be able to attend with their child. We also ask that you adhere to the time schedule to limit movement on campus.

Prior to Meet and Greet, please visit our school website to access and complete the Back to School online forms.
