Male Role Models Across BCPS Inspire Young Readers at Real Men Read Event

Broward County School Board Members; Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Superintendent and District Administrators; and Special Guests, Volunteers and Mentors
WHAT:
BCPS is excited to host Real Men Read, an annual event that aims to ignite a love of reading in students by showcasing positive male role models. Special guest readers will visit six participating schools to spend time reading to pre-K – 5th grade students. The participating schools are Dillard Elementary School, Hollywood Central Elementary School, Park Ridge Elementary School, Pinewood Elementary School and Village Elementary School.
Media are invited to join the festivities at Dillard Elementary School, where Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn will read to students.

WHY:
Real Men Read provides an opportunity for students to see positive male figures who value reading – underscoring the critical importance of literacy development. The event is a collaborative effort between BCPS, Children’s Services Council of Broward County, United Way of Broward County, Broward County government, Broward Education Foundation, Early Learning Coalition of Broward County and HandsOn South Florida – as part of the Broward Reads and Campaign for Grade-Level Reading initiatives.
