Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Families,
We had another sensational week! As the fourth week of school begins, our students are well-accustomed by now to a daily routine. All children are expected to be on time and ready to think each day (tardy at 8 am bell). Please remember to have your child reflect with you on something they learned each night!
Congratulations to the following classes for earning the classroom I-Ready trophies; Mr. Lane (Kindergarten), Mrs. Bowman (Grade 1), Mrs. Shelley (Grade 2), Mr. Holt (Grade 3), Mr. Krajewski (Grade 4) and Mrs. Witt (Grade 5). Students in these classes had the highest percentage of passed lessons combined for reading and mathematics. We are also proud of the many children who received a "Caught Being Good" or "What I Need" ticket. Keep up the great work!
Breakfast is free and served from 7:30 – 7:50 a.m. Food and Nutrition Services offer variety and well-balanced nutritious meals. Students may choose the school lunch or bring their own. The cafeteria does not allow cans or glass bottles or commercially prepared foods. Please complete a meal benefits application at www.myschoolapps.com. Feel free to see the menu ahead of time at BAYVIEW ELEMENTARY - MealViewer Schools
It was a pleasure to open our doors to our students and families during last week’s Open House event. Hopefully, you were able to observe your child(ren)'s learning environment, meet their teacher(s), understand the classroom procedures, the grade level standards and promotion criteria, etc. Parent involvement in student education is one of the highest indicators of success and is always encouraged at Bayview Elementary. Our next Open House/Curriculum Parent Night is Wednesday, September 4th, 6 - 7 p.m., for Grades 3 through Grade 5.
Even though this week is a short one, it is still a busy one. Students in grades 3 to 5 will be taking the FAST Reading Assessment. Please plan accordingly, as punctuality and attendance are essential for all students. We strive for 100% attendance on all testing days in order for students to test with their teacher, classmates and in a familiar testing environment. It's also important to be on time to school with a healthy breakfast and with plenty of rest.
Keeping students focused and attentive to classroom instruction is of upmost importance. We count on you to help us, as we will not interrupt instruction with late drop-offs for water bottles, homework, lunch or lunch money, sweaters or jackets. Have your child accountable for having all the items they need for school prepared each evening.
Monday, September 9th, is Make Up Picture Day. Students that were absent, new students, or if students need a picture retake (prearranged), will be able to get their picture taken. If you wish to have a picture retake, please contact Simple Smiles at Simplesmilesinfo@me.com or call 954-784-2015 to be added to their list.
Thank you to all our families that have successfully completed all the Back-to-School Forms online. If you have not, this is a reminder to register for the Focus Parent Portal at browardschools.com/focus. To create a new Parent Portal account, you will need a valid email address. If you prefer paper-based Back-to-School Forms, please let us know.
The Student Emergency Contact Card is the only form accepted as consent for students to receive care for illness/injury and/or to receive specified health screenings during the school day. A copy of the completed Student Emergency Contact Card must be available for the clinic staff to verify written consent for care of illness/injury and/or to receive specified health screenings. If you receive a hard copy, please complete and return it as soon as possible.
Thank you to all who follow our morning drop off and afternoon pick up procedures. We appreciate you pulling as far forward in the loop as possible and having students ready with their belonging to exit the vehicle along the covered walkway in the mornings. We also work hard to dismiss over 500 students quickly. It is a great help to see your bright Curb Smart signs. As our Curb Smart program becomes more efficient, the line will begin to move at a faster pace. Cars are no longer permitted on campus prior to 1:45 as we dismiss 2:00. We must always have clear routes for an evacuation and the fire lanes must remain open, including the main roads and neighboring driveways. Again, thank you for your patience and cooperation.
