February 11, 2020
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) has designated Friday, February 14, 2020, as A Day of Service and Love in commemoration of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD) tragedy. It will be a day to give back to the community in honor of the 17 students and staff who were lost and those who were injured. At 10:17 a.m., the entire District will observe a moment of silence to honor and remember. The community is also invited to observe the moment of silence.
As part of A Day of Service and Love students and staff will take part in service projects and activities that serve others within their schools and communities. The activities are supported by hundreds of volunteers and partnerships with HandsOn Broward, the city of Parkland, the city of Coral Springs and the Interfaith Council.
The following information is provided to members of the media to help plan coverage on this day:
At Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School:
- Media will not be permitted on the school’s campus.
- Students and staff will join schools across the District to take part in service projects and activities.
