Hundreds of BCPS High School Students to Showcase Legislative Youth Agenda at the Close Up – Broward Youth Policy Summit Expo

WHAT:
More than 300 BCPS Students who are English Language Learners (ELL) will share their proposals for legislative policies and recommendations to improve their communities during the Close Up – Broward Youth Policy Summit Expo. The high school immigrant students will present their legislative agendas to Florida lawmakers. The event is sponsored by the Close Up Foundation, Washington, D.C. and BCPS Bilingual/ESOL Department.

WHY:
The Close Up – Broward Youth Policy Summit is a follow-up to the 2023/24 Close Up – Rally to the Tally, during which hundreds of BCPS ELL traveled to Tallahassee to present their legislative agenda for Florida policy action to elected state officials.

The Broward Youth Policy Summit further challenges students to research and create consensus-based policy recommendations on a wide variety of issues and aims to advance critical thinking and problem-solving skills in our leaders of the future.
