Greetings Paladins,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I hope this message finds you and your loved ones well and recharged after the summer break. As we begin this new school year, I am beyond excited to share some fantastic news and important updates with you.
First and foremost, I am thrilled to announce that South Plantation High School has earned a "B" on the state accountability scale. This significant achievement is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and collective focus of our incredible students, teachers, staff and families. This accomplishment not only highlights the excellence within our school but also positively impacts the broader Plantation community. I am beyond proud of our "B" but remain committed to reaching even higher and earning an "A".
In addition to this exciting news, I am pleased to share that Broward County Schools has been rated an "A" district. This district-wide achievement reflects our commitment to providing high-quality education and underscores the exceptional efforts of our entire community.
Our theme for the 2024-2025 school year is "Don't Wait for It, Work for It!" This theme perfectly captures our commitment to proactive engagement, relentless effort, and the pursuit of excellence in all we do. We have seen tremendous progress in recent years, and this year, we aim to build on that momentum by taking purposeful actions to achieve even greater heights.
I am also thrilled to announce that our very own Assistant Principal, Mr. Ricardo Marino, has been accepted into the Intern Principal program and is beginning his journey towards a principalship. Mr. Marino has proudly served the Paladin community for 16 years in a variety of roles, from teacher to department head to Assistant Principal and now Intern Principal. To provide him with the hands-on experience he needs, he will, with my support and guidance, be acting in the principal capacity this year. Training our aspiring leaders to be ready when it is their turn to take the reins is of the utmost importance. The Paladin family has been lucky to have such a dedicated, driven, and passionate individual serving our school community for so many years, and now we must work to prepare him for his next leadership role.
As we look ahead, I want to inform you about some important changes regarding our arrival procedures. To ensure the safety of our students, staff, and visitors, Broward County has installed metal detectors at every high school in the county. Please be aware that all students will be required to pass through the metal detectors upon arrival and must display their ID visibly around their neck as they pass through and throughout the entire school day. Additionally, all visitors must also be screened when entering campus as well. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we implement this new security procedure that will enhance our efforts to provide a safe and secure learning environment for everyone.
I am looking forward to another wonderful year at South Plantation High School. Together, let's embrace the theme "Don't Wait for It, Work for It!" and make this school year the best yet.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
All the best,
Christy Henschel
Principal, South Plantation High School
