Privacy Matters
The School Board of Broward County, Florida, is dedicated to protecting the personal information of its students and employees. This website contains privacy notices, forms, policies, and answers to frequently asked questions. These documents are designed to help staff members comply with privacy laws, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and to help parents, students and employees understand their privacy rights.

Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) Notice
Our FERPA Notice details parents’ and students’ rights with respect to educational records.Social Security Numbers (Collection, Use & Disclosure) Notice
The District is mandated or authorized by law to collect, use and/or disclose Social Security Numbers for selected purposes, as listed in these notices.
Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) Notice
This notice pertains to student privacy protection for surveys, the collection and use of information for marketing purposes, and certain physical exams.
Translated Privacy Notices

FAQs and Fact Sheets on Disclosures (to Health Officials; to Law Enforcement; in Dual Relationships)
In certain instances, FERPA and state law disclosing information from education records without written consent from the parent or student (age 18 or over). However, certain conditions and requirements must be met. Here are informative documents developed by the Privacy Officer and the Office of the General Counsel to help guide you through the process.
