Elementary, middle, and high school students working at their group levels in a club
  • Clubs and organizations are a great way to help develop character and the skills that will benefit you in school, your career, and in life. Skills like commitment, leadership, effective communication, and being able to work successfully in a group all come from participating in a club or organization. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and boost your college resumé.

Students work to prepare their research projects and presentations on an annual STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) challenge, along with building and programming a robot based on LEGO's MINDSTORMS Spike Prime software. Chorus and Sparky Sound are musical activities that are open to all 3rd through 5th grade students at Sheridan Park Elementary. SPE Chorus performs in the Fall and Spring, as well as other special events.

Sparky Sound is an Orff Ensemble that plays a variety of instruments to accompany vocals and movement. • Student Council

Student Council members are the voice of our student-body!  The purpose of Student Council is to foster the growth of student leadership skills by making an impact on our community through student lead service projects and school activities.

Two students are elected, by their peers, in each of the third, fourth and fifth grade classes to represent their class. Each of the students elected have to fill out an application to participate in Student Council. Fourth and fifth grade students have the opportunity to campaign for the officer positions on Student Council. The positions are- President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

Each of the representatives and the elected members participate in meetings every other Thursday where we discuss upcoming events, fundraisers, and community service opportunities.

All fifth graders get a chance to run our morning news throughout the year. Each week, a team of 4 students rotate their responsibilities as they learn, and run, all aspects of the morning news.

    Student responsibilities include:

    - Anchor person

    - DJ

    - Pledge of Allegiance Honorary Member

    - Camera Crew

  • Safety Patrols

Safety Patrols are students that exhibit the eight essential core character traits: citizenship, cooperation, responsibility, kindness, respect, honesty, self-control and tolerance. Above all, safetry patrols are leaders of the school. A safety patrol’s job is to model safety rules for students, assist students in safe transitions throughout the building, and to assist staff members with arrival and dismissal procedures.

Safety patrols must be in fifth grade. Patrols are selected at the end of 4th grade through an application process with a recommendation from a previous teacher and parent permission. Consideration is based on student interest, academic achievement, commitment, sense of responsibility, and attitude toward others.
