Susan F. Sasse, Principal
Dear Pines Lakes Families:
As we enter the 2019-2020 school year, we are excited about our new learning theme- “To Proficiency and Beyond”. Through this theme we will focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math within a hands-on, student-centered environment. We look forward to you joining us on this scientific adventure!
My top priority as a principal has always been, and will continue to be, student safety and security. To this end, we have measures that will impact everyone at our school, including parents and visitors. Please read the School Safety and Security flyer in our first day folder and posted on our website so you can become familiar with how each of you can help all our students to feel safe and secure.
At the time this message was prepared, schools were still waiting for the State to issue our school grades. For the last two years, we have remained a “B”, and based on our preliminary diagnostic results, we are confident that we are continuing on the path toward A+ achievement! I must acknowledge the dedication of our teachers and staff, who are an integral part of our success. Our families are also to be commended for their support over the last several years as we worked towards these academic gains. Most importantly, I congratulate our students for prioritizing their learning and being the most PAWsome Panthers!
As a parent myself, I recognize how important it is for our families to be involved in their child’s education and will support you in doing so. The work necessary to continue pursuing the excellent education our students deserve requires your help too! I invite every parent to consider volunteering at our school as much as your schedule permits. Make sure you visit www.getinvolvedineducation.com, or visit our school to become a registered volunteer. Our PTA Board has great things in mind for our families, but we cannot do it alone!
We provide several ways for you to stay informed about Pines Lakes. We most often communicate via recorded phone messages, which is why it’s so important to make sure you provide us with current contact information. In addition to our website, you can expect to receive notices through emails, monthly newsletters, printed flyers, student planners and the school marquee. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter - @sasseprincipal so you can see all the exciting things happening at PLE!
Finally, our school is committed to ensuring a high-quality learning environment for your child. Your comments and suggestions are welcome at any time. I am honored to continue serving as your school principal and having your family as part of our proud Panther family!
