As part of the admissions process for Broward College (BC) and the application process for the College Academy (CA), you must take the College's Basic Skills Assessment Test called the Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (PERT). The PERT has three sections that you must pass: Reading Writing, and Math. The testing takes approximately 3 hours and is done on a computer. The PERT is not an easy test, particularly in the math area. Applicants will be afforded two attempts during the Application window: January - February. BC charges a retest fee for those students who previously taken the PERT. Refer to the Broward College testing policy for retesting guidelines and requirements.
Students who have qualifying SAT/ACT/PERT/ACCUPLACER scores do not have to take the PERT. As per BC Policy, test scores submitted must not be older than 2 years to be used for admission.
If you need more information please contact College Academy Admissions Coordinator at (754) 321-6900.
It is not necessary to test prior to applying.
Students who meet initial criteria will have their status on the online application changed to "proceed to the test".
