Happy Friday Eagles!
We want to remind you that school is closed all next week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please tune in on Thanksgiving morning to watch our amazing band march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade!!
Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will be offering Cambridge, a new accelerated program, for our students starting next school year. In addition to Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement, the Cambridge program will give students an opportunity to take rigorous courses and potentially earn college credit. We will be having an information session about Cambridge on November 28th, 2023. For current 9th graders, the information session will begin at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. For current 10th and 11th graders, the session will begin at 7:15 pm in the auditorium.
Eleventh and twelfth graders who are still in need of a passing score on the FAST reading assessment in order to qualify for graduation will be taking the FAST re-take test on Tuesday, November 28th. These students will receive a pass on Monday, 11/27.
Yearbooks are on sale via the MSD e-store for $90 through 12/31.

This Tuesday, November 7th, is a Teacher Planning Day and there is no school for students. Additionally, this coming Friday, November 10th, all schools will be closed in observance of Veteran's Day. We would like to thank any current or past member of the military for their service.
PTSO will be at the Farmer's Market this Sunday selling merchandise. They will have Future Eagles shirts for sale and as well as sale prices on select other items.

Happy Friday Eagles!
Next Tuesday is Halloween and we will have some fun activities and treats for our amazing students! We will be hosting a costume contest at the start of both lunches in the cafeteria for students and staff. Please ensure all costumes are in accordance with the District's dress code policy and no face paint or masks are permitted.
Next Thursday (11/2) is a Professional Study Day and dismissal will be 11:40 am for students.

Happy Friday Eagles!
Next Monday (10/23) is a county-wide Early Release Day and our students will be dismissed at 12:40 pm. Tuesday (10/24) is a Teacher Planning Day and there is no school for students. Monday does mark the end of the first quarter and the second quarter will begin on Wednesday, when students return to school.PTSO is hosting a mock ACT test tomorrow at MSD. Your child does need to register in order to participate. More information can be found on our website. SAT/ACT camps will resume next Saturday, October 28th.
The school counseling department will be having a parent night on Thursday, October 26th in the auditorium. Our 9th and 10th grade presentation will begin at 5:30 pm and 11th grade presentation will begin at 7:00 pm. Information graduation requirements, accelerated programs, high school timeline, and more will be shared. We look forward to seeing you there.

For any senior without an appointment for a yearbook photo, Cady will be on campus on 10/26. This will be the last chance to take a photo. A schedule has been sent to teachers & hot pink passes have been distributed to the specific seniors.

Happy Friday Eagles!
The school will be closed tomorrow for an outside event. There will be no practices or other events permitted on campus. Students attending field trips tomorrow have worked with their sponsors on the drop-off locations and parking areas that will be used for the field trips.
The Math Honor Society will be offering free peer-to-peer math tutoring after school in the media center every Wednesday starting on October 18th. Tutors and students opting to attend these sessions must bring signed parent permission slips which can be found on our website.
There is an I-zone meeting at Eagle Ridge Elementary School on Monday (10/16) at 9:00 am. A flyer can be found on our website.
All breakfasts and lunches are free for students this year as a result of a pilot program. Because this is a pilot program, it is vital that families continue to apply online at myschoolapps.com to secure this program for next school year, along with additional district opportunities. Please find additional information on our website.
The school counseling department will be having a parent night on Thursday, October 26th in the auditorium. Our 9th and 10th grade presentation will begin at 5:30 pm and the 11th grade presentation will begin at 7:00 pm. We want to remind parents to please visit our website and complete the Parent Anti-bullying and Dating violence trainings.
We also want to remind our students that Broward County does have a required dress code. All tops must be longer than the top of your pants; no portion of your torso should be exposed and shorts must be an appropriate length. Please adhere to the required dress code to avoid disciplinary consequences.
Score at the top will be here Saturday for the mock SAT and then again on the 21st for mock ACT. Registration is available on our website. There will be no Saturday camp on the 14th.
The PSAT/NMSQT will take place this Wednesday so we will have a modified schedule on this date, as the majority of our students will be testing on this day.
PTSO is hosting their monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 10th at 5:30 at Eagles' Haven.

Please remember that there is a mandatory security check at the gate and it will take some time for spectators to get through the line. We want to wish all of our families celebrating Rosh Hashanah a happy and healthy holiday.We want to remind all of our families that Broward County Public Schools does have a dress code that students are required to adhere to. Shorts must be an appropriate length and the bottom of all shirts must meet the top of your pants. Please ensure your students come to school appropriately.
Next week is Homecoming week!
We will have activities and contests each day during lunch in the cafeteria. We also have spirit days all week.
Monday is Midwest Monday: Wear your country attire.
Tuesday is Twister Tuesday: Dress in wacky clothes.
Wednesday is Which Witch is Witch Wednesday: Dress as twins with your favorite Eagle.
Thursday is Follow the Burgundy Brick Road Thursday: Wear your favorite college gear.
Friday is class color war day. Freshmen wear green; Sophomores wear blue; Juniors wear red; Seniors wear black.
If you purchased a ticket to homecoming, you need to print and complete the parent/guardian permission forms that can be found on our website. EVERYONE attending the dance will need to have completed forms to pick up a ticket. Forms will be collected Monday, September 18th - Wednesday, September 20th in the exterior hallway between guidance and student services, during both lunches. Failure to complete and turn in your forms will result in forfeiting your ticket and being denied access to the dance. Please make sure you have submitted ALL necessary forms.

FAST ELA retake tests will be held on Tuesday (9/12) for any junior or senior who still needs a qualifying score for graduation.
Algebra and Geometry tests for any student who still needs a qualifying score for graduation will be held on Wednesday (9/13).
Students who have completed US History and Biology but did not sit for the EOC will test on Thursday (9/14).
We are hosting SAT prep sessions on Saturdays, beginning tomorrow, 9/9 at MSD. Please arrive by 8:30 am. Drop-off will be in the bus loop. Sessions run from 9:00 am-10:30 am.Wednesday, September 13th there will be a PTSO general meeting in the Media Center starting at 3:30pm

We hope everyone had a great first week of school!
Open House will be held on Tuesday Aug. 29th. Activities start at 5:15 pm in the cafeteria. Additional details can be found on our website. Please follow your child's schedule in Pinnacle. Additional parking is available at Westglades Middle School.
MSD is offering free breakfast and lunch through the Universal free lunch pilot; however, we still need parents to complete the free lunch application. Please check our website for the link.
Please make sure to return all completed and signed first day paperwork to your child's teacher as soon as possible.
Health consent forms are now a part of the Emergency Contact Card. This information must be completed in order for your student to be seen in the clinic by the nurse.
Juniors who want to take the PSAT for National Merit Scholarship qualification can register by paying on the e-store. The cost is $20 and the deadline is September 1st. If you applied and were approved to receive free or reduced lunch, please see Mr. Winans to register.

Hello Eagle family- We are so excited to welcome all of our students back to school on Monday. As a reminder, school begins at 7:40 am and traffic will be extremely heavy the first few weeks of school. Please plan to arrive early.
As a reminder, parent drop off is in front of the school in our northern most lot that is located on Pine Island Road. Please ensure students are not dropped off in the street or in local neighborhoods to avoid potential traffic tickets. Only students who have received their parking decal are permitted to park in the senior lot on the first day of school. Decals are checked at the gate.
All students must wear their student ID in order to enter campus. Please do not forget your ID on Monday. Students without an ID must enter through our main gate in front of the school. Any student who has not yet obtained a current school ID should bring last year's ID on Monday.
We have had many schedules change over the past few days. A current first period room list will be available on Monday morning through staff on campus and in the cafeteria. Students should check their location before going to class Monday morning. They will receive a finalized schedule in their first period class.
All students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year. A la carte items are still available for purchase in the cafeteria and are not included in the free lunch program.

Happy Friday Eagles! As a reminder, next week is final exam week. All students will be released at 11:40 am Monday through Thursday. Friday is an employee planning day and there is no school for students. Please note that any student taking a final exam cannot be released from the exam room until the end of the period. The Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2023 is being held at Nova Southeastern University Rick Case Arena, located in the Don Taft University Center on Sunday, June 4th at 9:00 am. All graduates and their guests should park in the Alvin Sherman Library Garage located at 3051 Ray Ferrero Jr Blvd. Parking fees will be waived for students and guests that park in the Alvin Sherman Library Garage. Please be sure you read the guidelines below.
· Graduating students must arrive by 7:15 AM. They will enter and exit through the Rick Case Arena Loading Dock behind the Don Taft University Center.
· Guests attending graduation will enter and exit through the Don Taft University Center north doors. Doors for guests will open at 8:00 AM
· All students and guests will be required to go through security checkpoints.
· Bag restrictions will apply. Please find details in the Senior Portal in Canvas.
· NO balloons will be allowed in the building. Please find details in the Senior Portal in Canvas.
· Every guest must have a ticket to attend the graduation ceremony.

We want to remind everyone that there is no school on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
Senior activities and cap and gown pick up times for next week are available in the class of 2023 Canvas Senior Portal.
Our underclass awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday the 31st at 6:00 pm. Parents of invited students are encouraged to attend. Students being honored were sent an invitation last week.
Underclass Exam Exemption forms are due at the end of the school day on the 31st. The form is available on our website.
Testing season has come to an end, and students who took the ELA FAST Exam, Algebra 1 EOC, and Geometry EOC have already received their scores through virtual counselor and/or their classroom teachers. Please make sure that you connect with your student to identify their performance on the exam. If you need assistance in identifying next steps if your student did not receive a passing score, please connect with your child's teacher and/or guidance counselor.
Please remember that no backpacks are permitted on campus after next Thursday, June 1st.
Last week, all parents received a district-wide communication regarding the last day of school – June 8, 2023. Even though June 8 has changed from an early release day to a full day of school to make up for instructional time lost during the recent flooding, all high schools will follow their regular exam schedule the last week of school. High school students will be released upon completion of their exams at 11:40 am each day of exam week.
We want to congratulate the MSD baseball team for earning their 3rd consecutive state championship title this past Wednesday in Ft. Myers! Way to go, Eagles!

On Tuesday, May 16, and Wednesday, May 17, we will have a modified bell schedule due to Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology and US History EOC testing. In addition to students who are currently enrolled in either Algebra 1 or Geometry, students who have not met their math graduation testing requirement will be signed up to take the Algebra 1 EOC on Tuesday, May 16th and they will be notified through a separate call. Both Tuesday and Wednesday are full school days. If you choose to have your student sign out early after their exam, we have placed an early release form on the school website.
Senior exam exemptions go live as a Microsoft Form on Monday morning and are due Friday at 2:50 pm.
Class of 2024 Senior Crowning Shirts are now on sale for $15 on the e-store! Get yours now! Sales will end Monday, May 15th at 8 am.
Yearbooks were distributed in the cafeteria to seniors this week. All grades can get pre-ordered yearbooks during both lunches next week on 5/15, 5/18 & 5/19. There are still some yearbooks available to purchase on the MSD e-store before they go offline on 5/18.

We will have our final SAC meeting of the year on Wednesday, 5/10 at 3:15 pm in our Media Center. Next year's budget will be discussed.

Tuesday, May 9th is the FAST Progress Monitoring 3 exam for all 9th and 10th graders as well as juniors and seniors who do not yet have a qualifying concordant score in reading for graduation. Students MAY take up to the entire school day to complete the exam. The early sign out form for those students wishing to leave after the exam is available in the student's grade level canvas page under "testing info."
There will be a modified schedule on Tuesday due the majority of our students who will be testing.

Happy Friday Eagles!We have our final SAT/ACT prep session this Saturday at 9:00 am. Drop off is in the bus loop.AP Testing starts next week. Students will be notified of their testing location through Naviance. If students have any questions as to their testing location, they can go to guidance and ask the clerical staff for additional information. There are morning and afternoon tests. Students coming to school late for an afternoon test or leaving early after a morning test will have to complete the early sign out or late entry process that will be communicated by their AP teacher. Students need to complete this process each day they plan to come to school late or leave early. Students are required to bring their own writing utensils and calculators to the AP exams. Students who arrive to school late for their afternoon AP test must arrive by 11:30 am. Students cannot be dismissed early from their exams once testing has started to prevent disruption and invalidation.There are less than 200 yearbooks left for pre-order. Books will be distributed mid-May. You can order one via the MSD e-store. Happy Friday Eagles!
On Friday, April 7th all schools are closed in observance of Good Friday.
On Thursday, April 6th, our 10th grade students will be taking a field writing test for the state of Florida. On that day, we will have a modified schedule and are offering a variety of different review sessions on campus. For the purposes of planning the sessions, students in 9th, 11th and 12th grade were asked to complete a review session request form to indicate their top choices by March 29th. Students who did not complete the form will be assigned a review session, and/or a presentation on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. April 6th is a professional study day and all students will be released at 11:40 AM. Student testing and review session locations will be communicated to students at the start of next week.
Our SAC meeting originally scheduled for April 19th has been rescheduled to April 12th at 3:15 pm in the Media Center.
Please come out tomorrow, Saturday, April 1 from 4-9pm for the Relay for Life of Parkland, Coral Springs, Margate and Coconut Creek. This year’s event is located at our own MSD football field! We have many teams participating this year, including many of our own Stoneman Douglas clubs. There will be food and entertainment. This is a free, fun, family-oriented event to help fight cancer.
In an effort to improve System Practices, Broward County School District is conducting a Parent Survey. We value your opinion and ask that you please take time to complete this survey. Happy Thursday Eagles! As a reminder, tomorrow is a Teacher Planning Day and there is no school for students. Additionally, school is closed next week for Spring Break. We will resume classes on Monday, March 27th.
All course cards for the 2023-24 school year should have been submitted and counselors are finalizing course requests.
On April 6th, our 10th grade students will be taking a field writing test for the state of Florida and as a result, we will have a modified bell schedule. Happy Friday Eagles!
Thursday, March 16th is an early release day, with dismissal at 11:40 am. Friday, March 17th is an employee planning day and there is no school for students.
There is no SAT/ACT prep this weekend or next. We will resume review sessions after spring break.
Standardized testing season is rapidly approaching. Please visit our website and click on the "After School Academic Academy" for a schedule of extended learning opportunities and review sessions in tested areas.
Prom packets are now available on the school website and Class of 2023 Canvas page. Completed packets, including signatures, can be turned in from March 13 until March 31 at the L-Counter during both lunches. You MUST have your packet approved in order to purchase a prom ticket! Tickets will be on sale on the e-store from April 3 through 12 for $170. Please contact Ms. Bachen at coral.bachen@browardschools.com with any questions.
On April 6th, a PSD Day, our 10th grade students will be taking a field writing test for the state of Florida and as a result, we will have a modified bell schedule. On that day, we are offering a variety of different review sessions on campus. For the purposes of planning the sessions, we need every student in 9th, 11th and 12th grade, to complete a review session request form to indicate their top choices. Students who do not complete the form will be assigned a review session, and/or a presentation on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. April 6th is a professional study day and students will be released at 11:40 AM. The review session request form is located on the front of the school website and on Canvas.
PTSO is holding a fundraiser on Monday after school in the senior parking lot. Students can purchase giant stuffed cookies and brookies. Cash, credit card, or apple pay will be accepted for payment.
Starting March 13, 2023, current and newly eligible bus riders can register to ride for the 2023/24 school year. Students must be registered by June 30, 2023, to guarantee a bus seat on the first day of school. Link will be available on our school website.

Next Wednesday (3/8), we will have a SAC meeting in the media center at 3:15 pm.
On Thursday (3/9) and Friday (3/10), we will have our drama show, Head Over Heels in the auditorium at 7:00 pm. Tickets are available online.
I wanted to provide you with the most up to date information we have on the social media threats reported last week, as well as the suspicious call received by BSO a few weeks ago. Both situations remain active investigations. The call was determined to be made by someone in another state and police are still working to identify the author of the media posts. I will send an update when any new information becomes available.

Tonight at 7:00 pm, we are hosting our Black History show in the auditorium. Tickets are available at the door.
SAT/ACT prep is this Saturday from 9:00 am-10:30 am; drop off is in the bus loop.
We are offering SAT/ACT review after school from 2:45-3:45 in room 913 with Mrs. Beach.
Wednesday, March 1 is the SAT school day for all juniors and select seniors who need an SAT concordant score for graduation. March 1st is a full school day but we will have a modified bell schedule on that day due to testing. If you wish to authorize your student to leave after the completion of the SAT, you can find the early release authorization form and requirements on the school website.
The deadline for seniors to purchase their caps and gowns is March 4th. Orders can be placed at Jostens.com

Please remember that there is no school on Monday (2/20) in observance of President's Day.
Our SAC meeting originally scheduled for 2/15 has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 22 at 3:15 pm in the media center.
There is no Saturday SAT/ACT prep this Saturday due to the holiday weekend.Students are meeting with school counselors to input their course selections at this time. If course cards have not been turned in to personalization teachers, please make sure are submitted ASAP with proper documentation.

The Broward County School Board has decided upon a boundary proposal that they will bring forward for a vote. We have received many calls and emails related to this. Please remember that any boundary proposal for next year will not impact any current MSD students. All students currently enrolled will be permitted to stay enrolled.
We have SAT/ACT prep this Saturday from 9:00 am-10:30 am. Drop off is in the bus loop by 8:45 am.
Please remember that 2/14 is a Day of Service and Love and we will be operating on a modified schedule for the day. You should have received a call this week specific to what you selected for your child to participate in for the day. If you selected an excused absence for your child, there is no need to call the school to excuse the absence. If you have signed your child up to participate in one of the on-campus service projects, your child must arrive on campus by 7:40 am. There will be no late arrivals on this day; please plan accordingly. Students must wear the student ID and no backpacks or bags are allowed on campus for the day. Students should bring a bottle of water and dress appropriately for their service project. Most activities take place outside, so please monitor the weather. Students will be dismissed at 11:00 am and there are no early dismissals. Buses will continue to run their regular routes with the adjusted dismissal time.

Course Cards have been distributed to all students. Please review the course cards with your students to ensure they select the appropriate courses. The cards are due to personalization teachers February 7th or 8th.
SAT/ACT prep classes will continue this Saturday. Drop off is in the bus loop by 9:00 am.
Seniors: It is time to verify that your name is spelled correctly for your high school diploma. Please verify the spelling of your legal first name, middle name, last name, initials, and any spacing or apostrophes. If you need to make corrections, NOW is the time.
Please come to the registrar's office located in the guidance department to verify the spelling of your name. There will be a master list of all seniors posted in guidance in front of the registrar’s office.
If all looks good, please initial by your name. If corrections need to be made, please see Mrs. Andrea Ulfe (school registrar) to complete a form with the correct spelling of your full legal name. Do not wait to make corrections. You must verify your full legal name spelling by Friday, February 10th.
After February 10th and once diplomas are ordered, there are NO re-orders and NO corrections can be made.

Happy Friday Eagles! As a reminder, school is closed on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
For students interested in taking a summer dual enrollment class at Broward College, the summer 2023 deadline to have test scores, an unweighted 3.0 GPA, and submit the summer term dynamic form is February 9th, 2023.
Yearbooks are available on the MSD e-store for $100. There are less than 300 yearbooks remaining for pre-order. Yearbooks will be distributed in May.
Senior yearbook dedications are available to purchase on the MSD e-store through the end of January. Don't miss out on the opportunity to celebrate your senior. Yearbooks are available on the MSD e-store for $90 through 12/31. The price goes up to $100 on 1/1. There are only 400 yearbooks remaining for pre-order. Yearbooks will be distributed in May.
Senior yearbook dedications are available to purchase on the MSD e-store through the end of January. Don't miss out on the opportunity to celebrate your senior.

Happy Friday Eagles!
Exam Exemption forms are are available now on our website and are due by December 14th at 3:00 pm. No late forms will be accepted. SAT/ACT prep Saturday courses are concluded for the fall and will pick back up in the Spring.
We have a SAC meeting on Wednesday, 12/14 at 3:15 pm in the media center. We will be discussing the distribution of our school recognition funds.

Happy Friday Eagles!
Please come out to celebrate the many cultures that make up MSD by attending our Multicultural show this evening at 7:00 pm in the auditorium. The students have worked very hard to put together an amazing show!
Midterm exams will be administered 12/20-12/23. These will be full school days with a modified schedule. The schedule will be posted on our website next week. Midterm exam exemption forms will be available on our website on 12/7 and are due no later than 12/14. Students are eligible to exempt up to 3 midterm exams, provided they meet exemption criteria. All information can be found on the exemption form.
As a result of Hurricane Nicole, two district early release days have been converted to full school days. These dates are 1/12/23 and 4/20/23. An updated calendar can be found on our website.
SAT/ACT tutoring will take place this Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:30 am; drop off and parking will be available in the bus loop.
There will be a career/dual enrollment information session on Thursday, December 8th at 6:00 p.m. via TEAMS. The link to join has been emailed out. Please email Mrs. Melei with any questions.
December 5th thru December 9th we will be celebrating Inclusive Schools week.
Inclusive Schools Week is an opportunity for all of us to come together to honor students with disabilities as full members of our school communities.
This year’s theme is “Unity within Community—Inclusion Around the World.”

Happy Friday Eagles! We want to wish all of our families a very Happy Thanksgiving! We are so thankful for each of you!
Schools will be closed next week and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday, November 28th.
As a result of the Thanksgiving holiday, SAT and ACT test preparation sessions are cancelled for the next 2 weeks and will resume on Saturday, December 3rd.
The Florida Civics Literacy Exam for seniors currently enrolled in a Government course will be administered on December 1st & 2nd . Those seniors currently enrolled in an Economics course will take the exam in the spring.
EOC exams in Algebra or Geometry for those seniors in need of a passing score for graduation will be on December 6th. Students in 9th-11th grade who need to re-take these tests will be the following Tuesday.
FAST Progress monitoring 2 for our English students is coming up for our 9th graders on December 7th & 8th and for 10th graders on December 14th & 15th.

Happy Friday Eagles! Next Tuesday, we will have a Teacher Planning Day, with no school for students. On Friday, 11/11, all schools are closed in observance of Veteran's Day. We thank all of our veterans for their service!
Our fall play, The Importance of Being Earnest, is being held tonight at 7:00 pm. Please come out and enjoy this incredible production!
Our final regular season football game will be held tonight at Coral Glades at 7:00 pm. Please come out to support our amazing players.
SAT camp will be held tomorrow (11/5) from 9:00-10:30 am. Students should arrive by 9:15; drop off and parking are available in the bus loop.

I want to remind everyone that next Thursday, November 3rd is a professional study day and students will be released at 11:40 am.
On Monday, October 31st, we will be hosting a costume contest for staff and students during both lunches as well as lunchtime games and activities. Please come out for a chance to win a great prize! Please remember that all costumes must be dress code appropriate and no masks or face coverings are permitted.
Tonight we have our last regular season home football game at 7:00 pm with senior night starting at 5:45 pm. Please come out to help us honor our senior football players, cheerleaders and band and colorguard members.

Next week is Red Ribbon week. The purpose of Red Ribbon week is to encourage everyone to live a life that is safe, healthy and drug-free and to make responsible decisions. We will have dress up days each day to commemorate this week.

We want to remind everyone that the quarter ends on October 20th. Now is the time to ensure all work is complete and you are where you need to be with your grades.
Next Wednesday we will be administering the PSAT to all 9th, 10th, and select 11th graders. There will be an alternative schedule on this day due to testing. Any junior or senior without a concordant test score in Math or Reading for graduation, will be participating in a review session for the ACT which will be administered on Tuesday October 18th. Any student who is planning to sign out after the PSAT must use the Early Sign Out Authorization form which can be found on the PSAT portal in canvas. The form must be completed, with a copy of the parent's identification, in order for this to be accepted. Room assignments, along with all testing information, can also be found in this portal.
Students who registered to take the mock ACT test this Saturday should park or be dropped off in the senior lot. All students taking SAT/ACT prep courses should park or be dropped off in the bus loop.
