Our PTSO is hosting an SAT simulation on 9/14.  The cost is $10 and information to register can be found on our website.

On Tuesday, September 10th  we will be administering FAST re-takes for 11th and 12th graders who need a concordant score for graduation.

On Wednesday, September 11th we will be administering Algebra and Geometry EOC re-takes.

On Thursday, September 12th we will be administering US History and Biology EOC re-takes.

All exams will be hosted in the media center at 7:40am.  Students are being notified on Canvas and will receive a pass on Friday.

This Wednesday, September 11th, we will observe Heroes Day in honor of the victims and heroes of 9/11. Our award-winning JROTC cadets have worked diligently to create a special tribute, including replicas of the Twin Towers and a display of the names of all of those who lost their lives on that tragic day. Throughout the school day, JROTC cadets will stand guard at the display, providing a solemn reminder of the bravery and sacrifice shown by so many.

If students have allergies that we need to be aware of, please make sure that you complete and return the "allergies" form sent home with the first day paperwork.  Please also return all first-day paperwork as soon as possible.

We will be administering the FAST ELA PM1 assessment next week to all 9th and 10th graders.  The assessment will be administered on Tuesday & Wednesday in  9th grade English classes and on Thursday and Friday in10th grade English classes.

Eleventh grade students wishing to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship can purchase a PSAT ticket for $12 on the e-store starting on Tuesday, September 3rd through September 13th. The test will be administered on Wednesday October 9th during the school day at MSD.

This year's Homecoming week will be September 16th through the 21st.  Our theme is "A Night in Vegas!"  The Homecoming football game will be played on Friday, 9/20 and the dance will be held on Saturday, 9/21 at the Westin Ft. Lauderdale Beach Convention Center.  Tickets for the dance will go on sale at the end of next week.

Happy Friday Eagles!  All schools will be closed on Monday (5/27) in observance of Memorial Day.  We hope that all of our Eagles enjoy their long weekend.

Yearbook distribution will take place in room 635 starting on Tuesday, May 28. Due to final exams, there will be no distribution after Monday, June 3rd.  Yearbooks are still available for purchase for $100 cash in room 635. A very limited quantity remains. Get yours before they're all gone.

We are nearing the end of the school year so we encourage all students to review their grades and ensure any and all missing work is submitted.

We want to ensure that students and parents are aware that there will be no backpacks permitted on campus June 3 - June 10.

Final exams will be administered on June 5th through June 10th. Please see the full schedule on our website.

Next Friday, May 24, is an Early Release Day.  Students will be dismissed at 12:40 pm.

Reproductive Health and Disease instruction will be being Monday (5/20) through study classes for all students who did not turn in a signed opt-out form.

The Final Exam Exemption Microsoft Form for all underclassmen is now live on the school website.  All submissions are due by 2:45 pm on Wednesday, May 22nd.  Exams will take place from Wednesday, June 5th – Monday, June 10th.

The senior assembly for graduation is Monday May 20th during second period.  We will be reviewing key information about cap & gown and graduation ticket distribution.  All seniors must attend the senior assembly.  The presentation will also be on the Class of 2024 Canvas page after the assembly.

The MSD Speech and Debate Booster Club will be hosting a kickback at the Pasquale’s in The Shoppes at Heron Lakes on Wednesday May 22nd.

We have a SAC meeting on Wednesday (5/15) at 3:15 pm in the cafeteria.  The 2024/25 budget will be discussed.

Thursday May 16th is our 2nd schoolwide testing day. EOCs in US History and Biology will be administered. ALL students can take up to 1 full school day to complete their exam.

Students that have AP testing or both of Us History and Bio on the same day will take their conflicting EOC on Friday May 17th.

Any parent or guardian wishing to sign their student out early on Thursday (5/16) MUST have their early sign out form and a copy of the parent/guardian's identification submitted to Ms. Wanamaker in Student Affairs NO LATER than Monday, May 13.  Any student who does not submit a form by Monday at 2:45 pm will not be permitted to leave early unless their parent or guardian physically comes to school to sign them out.

Yearbook distribution will take place in the cafeteria during both lunches on May 13 & 14 for seniors, and May 15, 17, 22 & 23 for all grades.  There are still 200 books left to purchase via the MSD e-store. They go offline on May 18.

AP testing starts on Monday May 6th.  Times & dates are available on our website. There is a student sign out form for students wishing to sign out after their AP exam as well as a late entry form for students with AP exams starting at noon. Both forms are available to the students on their class Canvas page.  Please remember that any sign ins or sign outs on AP test days will count toward the 10-10-10 rule. 

9th, 10th & 11th graders in need of a concordant score for graduation will be taking the FAST on Wednesday, May 8th.  We will have a modified bell schedule on that date.   Students wishing to sign out after their assessment will need to complete the early sign out authorization form that can be found on their class Canvas page. All forms must have a copy of parents/guardians ID attached and a new form is needed for each exam.  

Senior exams are scheduled for Monday, May 20th through Thursday, May 23rd.  The Final Exam Exemption Form for Seniors will be available beginning Monday, May 6th at 7:00 am, on the Class of 2024 Senior Portal Canvas page under the “Final Exam Info” tab. The deadline for seniors to submit their exam exemption form is Tuesday, May 14th at 2:45 pm.  

Senior Yard Signs are in. Please pick up your yard sign on Friday, May 3rd from 4:30 - 6:30 pm in the Senior lot at school. PTSO will be in the parking lot next to the football field. You can also pick up your yard sign on Saturday, May 4th from 9:30 - 11:30 am at the Parkland library. Please look for PTSO in the parking lot.

Reproductive Health and Disease Prevention lessons will begin in study hall classes May 20- June 3. If you would like your child to opt of this curriculum, please make sure to return the opt out form by May 1st .  The opt out form will be sent home with your child Monday, April 22.

On April 24th and April 25th  we will be administering the FCLE (Florida Civics Literacy Exam) to our seniors who are currently in government class, as well as to anyone who missed the winter exam. Students will take the exam during their class period.

ELOs will continue next week.  Please refer to the homepage of our school website for dates and locations.

Free SAT/ACT Saturday camps will continue this Saturday.  Pickup and drop off will be held in the south bus loop.  Camps run from 8:30 am-10:30 am.  Please make sure students have transportation home at 10:30.

Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs) will continue next week.  Please refer to the homepage of our school website for dates and locations.  These sessions are designed to help your student excel on upcoming state mandated assessments.

Free SAT/ACT Saturday camps will continue this Saturday.  Pickup and drop-off will be held in the south bus loop.  Camps run from 8:30 am-10:30 am.  Please make sure students are picked up at 10:30 am.

Seniors: Every graduating senior will receive 4 graduation tickets at cap and gown distribution for guests to attend the graduation ceremony. There is a very limited number of additional tickets.  The form to request one additional graduation ticket is now available on the Class of 2024 Canvas page under the "Graduation Information" tab. The deadline to submit the form to request one additional graduation ticket is April 18th at 3:00 pm.  This form is only accessible to students.

Next Wednesday, 3/6, we will be hosting our monthly SAC meeting at 3:15 pm in the Media Center. we will be voting on the Exam Exemption Continuation Waiver at that meeting. Please find the full agenda on our website.

Wednesday March 6th is SAT School day for Juniors ONLY. If they are signing out once the exam is complete, they must bring a completed early sign-out authorization form with a copy of the parent or guardian's license attached. The form can be found on our website.   All other students will have a normal silver day & schedule with dismissal at 2:40pm.

We are starting our Extended Learning Opportunities, or ELOs, for tested areas this week after school.  Please refer to the information on the website for dates and locations.

Course cards were distributed this week and are due back to students' study hall classes on February 1st and 2nd. AICE Cambridge applications for incoming 10th graders are due online when course cards are due.   Please also remember that each student must submit proof of residency with their course cards.

Students will verify the spelling of their legal first name, middle name, last name, initials, spacing and/or apostrophe(s).  Students must come to the registrar's office, located in the guidance department, to verify the spelling of their name. The deadline for seniors to verify the spelling of their full legal name is Tuesday, February 13th.  After February 13th and once diplomas are ordered, there are NO re-orders and NO corrections can be made.

Happy Friday Eagles!  Unfortunately, our district parentlink phone system has been down all week so we are only able to send emails at this time. Please remember that next week we will be administering midterm exams. Monday will be a regular school day and exams will be administered Tuesday through Friday, with dismissal at 11:40 am on those days.

Monday will be winter spirit day pajama day. Students and staff are invited to wear their coziest pajamas as we prepare to settle into winter break. Please ensure that all pajamas meet the requirements of our dress code.

Please mark your calendars for January 9th, when we will be hosting a community forum to discuss our professional study day waiver. This meeting will take place at 3:15 pm in our media center. This waiver would permit our school to continue to host professional study days next school year.

We are thrilled to announce that we are once again an A school! We want to congratulate and thank our students and staff for their hard work and dedication.  We will be awarded School Recognition funds from the state as a result of this A grade and a meeting to discuss options for allocation of these funds will be held on January 17th at 3:15 pm in our media center.  We welcome all of our stakeholders to attend.

Attention Seniors! If you are interested in earning a silver cord for graduation, you must have at least 250 community service hours turned in and recorded in our system by Friday, February 23rd, 2024 at 3:00 pm.

Midterm exams will be administered 12/19-12/22.  These will be early release days with an 11:40 am dismissal.  The schedule is posted on our website. Midterm exam exemption forms are available on our website and are due no later than 12/13 at 2:45 pm. Students are eligible to exempt up to 3 midterm exams, provided they meet exemption criteria. All information can be found on the exemption form.  Students who exempt an exam will not have their absence from the exam period count against the 10-10-10 rule. 

On Tuesday, we will be administering make-up tests for the Algebra, Geometry, US History and Biology EOCs.  These tests will be held in room 934. Students will receive a reminder through canvas.

On Wednesday and Thursday the FAST PM 2 test will be administered for all10th graders in the media center & English classrooms.

Our Lacrosse booster club will be hosting a kick-back night at Huey Magoo's on Monday, December 11th from 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Please say you are a part of MSD Lacrosse spirit night when ordering!

We want to remind you that school is closed all next week in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Please tune in on Thanksgiving morning to watch our amazing band march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade!!

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will be offering Cambridge, a new accelerated program, for our students starting next school year. In addition to Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement, the Cambridge program will give students an opportunity to take rigorous courses and potentially earn college credit. We will be having an information session about Cambridge on November 28th, 2023. For current 9th graders, the information session will begin at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. For current 10th and 11th graders, the session will begin at 7:15 pm in the auditorium.

Eleventh and twelfth graders who are still in need of a passing score on the FAST reading assessment in order to qualify for graduation will be taking the FAST re-take test on Tuesday, November 28th. These students will receive a pass on Monday, 11/27.

Next Monday (10/23)  is a county-wide Early Release Day and our students will be dismissed at 12:40 pm.  Tuesday (10/24) is a Teacher Planning Day and there is no school for students.  Monday does mark the end of the first quarter and the second quarter will begin on Wednesday, when students return to school.

The school counseling department will be having a parent night on Thursday, October 26th in the auditorium. The school will be closed tomorrow for an outside event. There will be no practices or other events permitted on campus.  Students attending field trips tomorrow have worked with their sponsors on the drop-off locations and parking areas that will be used for the field trips.

The Math Honor Society will be offering free peer-to-peer math tutoring after school in the media center every Wednesday starting on October 18th. Tutors and students opting to attend these sessions must bring signed parent permission slips which can be found on our website.

There is an I-zone meeting at Eagle Ridge Elementary School on Monday (10/16) at 9:00 am.  A flyer can be found on our website.

All breakfasts and lunches are free for students this year as a result of a pilot program.  Because this is a pilot program, it is vital that families continue to apply online at myschoolapps.com to secure this program for next school year, along with additional district opportunities. Please find additional information on our website.

We also want to remind our students that Broward County does have a required dress code. All tops must be longer than the top of your pants; no portion of your torso should be exposed and shorts must be an appropriate length.  Please adhere to the required dress code to avoid disciplinary consequences.

Score at the top will be here Saturday for the mock SAT and then again on the 21st for mock ACT.  Registration is available on our website. There will be no Saturday camp on the 14th. 

The PSAT/NMSQT will take place this Wednesday so we will have a modified schedule on this date, as the majority of our students will be testing on this day.

Please remember that there is a mandatory security check at the gate and it will take some time for spectators to get through the line. Please plan accordingly and try to get to the game early to avoid a long line at the gate.

The Spring Dynamic Form is due on October 5, 2023 for students taking Spring 2024 Dual Enrollment at Broward College.  The link to the form is on the School Counseling Canvas Page.  You will need to submit a new dynamic form each term.

PTSO, in partnership with Score at the Top, is holding a  practice SAT at MSD on Saturday, October 7 and a practice ACT on Saturday, October 21.  Please know that the original date for the practice ACT was October 14 but had to be changed to October 21 due to a scheduling conflict. We want to remind all of our families that Broward County Public Schools does have a dress code that students are required to adhere to. Shorts must be an appropriate length and the bottom of all shirts must meet the top of your pants.  Please ensure your students come to school appropriately. 

Next week is Homecoming week!
We will have activities and contests each day during lunch in the cafeteria. We also have spirit days all week.

Monday is Midwest Monday: Wear your country attire.
Tuesday is Twister Tuesday: Dress in wacky clothes.
Wednesday is Which Witch is Witch Wednesday: Dress as twins with your favorite Eagle.
Thursday is Follow the Burgundy Brick Road Thursday: Wear your favorite college gear.
Friday is class color war day.  Freshmen wear green; Sophomores wear blue; Juniors wear red; Seniors wear black.

If you purchased a ticket to homecoming, you need to print and complete the parent/guardian permission forms that can be found on our website. EVERYONE attending the dance will need to have completed forms to pick up a ticket. Forms will be collected Monday, September 18th - Wednesday, September 20th in the exterior hallway between guidance and student services, during both lunches. Failure to complete and turn in your forms will result in forfeiting your ticket and being denied access to the dance.  Please make sure you have submitted ALL necessary forms.

FAST ELA retake tests will be held on Tuesday (9/12) for any junior or senior who still needs a qualifying score for graduation.

Algebra and Geometry tests for any student who still needs a qualifying score for graduation will be held on Wednesday (9/13).

Students who have completed US History and Biology but did not sit for the EOC will test on Thursday (9/14).

We are hosting SAT prep sessions on Saturdays, beginning tomorrow, 9/9 at MSD.  Please arrive by 8:30 am.  Drop-off will be in the bus loop.  Sessions run from 9:00 am-10:30 am.

Wednesday, September 13th there will be a PTSO general meeting in the Media Center starting at 3:30pm

MSD is offering free breakfast and lunch through the Universal free lunch pilot; however, we still need parents to complete the free lunch application.  Please check our website for the link.

Please make sure to return all completed and signed first day paperwork to your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Hello Eagle family- We are so excited to welcome all of our students back to school on Monday.  As a reminder, school begins at 7:40 am and traffic will be extremely heavy the first few weeks of school. Please plan to arrive early.

As a reminder, parent drop off is in front of the school in our northern most lot that is located on Pine Island Road.   Please ensure students are not dropped off in the street or in local neighborhoods to avoid potential traffic tickets. Only students who have received their parking decal are permitted to park in the senior lot on the first day of school.  Decals are checked at the gate.

All students must wear their student ID in order to enter campus. Please do not forget your ID on Monday.  Students without an ID must enter through our main gate in front of the school.  Any student who has not yet obtained a current school ID should bring last year's ID on Monday.

We have had many schedules change over the past few days. A current first period room list will be available on Monday morning through staff on campus and in the cafeteria. Students should check their location before going to class Monday morning.  They will receive a finalized schedule in their first period class.

All students will receive free breakfast and lunch this school year. A la carte items are still available for purchase in the cafeteria and are not included in the free lunch program.
