Principal's Message

    Dear Stoneman Douglas Family:

I am extremely honored and PROUD to be the Principal at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.  It is my goal to provide a quality education not only in the classroom, but also in life.  I strongly encourage all students to get involved in their high school, whether that be through athletics, through activities, or simply wearing their school colors on Friday with PRIDE.

As I enter into my twenty-fifth year in education, my PASSION for public education has not faltered.  My mother was an educator, so my public education roots run deep.  I have made it a goal throughout my entire career to express my PASSION and enthusiasm in the classroom (teacher), on the field (coach), through activities (SGA Sponsor), and as an administrator.  I will continue to put the best interests of students to the forefront of decisions.

As we embark on a new school year, it is my goal to continue the strong tradition of academic excellence. It is of the utmost importance as we move into this new school year, that we strike the balance necessary to foster an environment for academic success and emotional stability.

The District has been working closely with our team to be sure we have the supports in place for students to be successful.  We continue to be committed to preparing students “for life after high school.”  We will continue to be POSITIVE, PASSIONATE, and PROUD to be Eagles, while striving to be the #1 school, not only in the district, but in the State of Florida.

    Proudly,

    Ty Thompson
