After Care
-
Our mission is to provide students with an inclusive child care program that is safe and nurturing in a comfortable environment. A culturally enriching program that promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child; and a program that meets the highest quality of child care standards.
The goal of our after-school care program ("AfterCare") is to serve the community by offering a high-quality program of developmentally appropriate activities in a wholesome and safe environment.
The program promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child. We encourage our students to become life-long learners and foster partnerships with parents, students, staff, and the community.
AfterCare is staffed by employees of the School Board of Broward County, who have all been fingerprinted and cleared to work for the Broward County School system. The staff works together to help each child grow in maturity and self-respect, as well as an understanding of others. We realize that children need fun-filled, as well as educational, activities.
Students in our program are expected to respect the staff, each other, the school's facilities, and all provided materials.
Unacceptable behavior may necessitate a conference with the Program's Supervisor. The student's behavior and possible solutions will be discussed with the parents. If behavior problems continue, a student may be removed from the Program.
ATTENDANCE:
Please let the Program's supervisor know in advance when your child will not be attending AfterCare. If your child is marked "present" in the classroom, we expect him/her to attend AfterCare. If your child was absent from school, you do not need to notify the Supervisor. You may call the school and leave a message for the Supervisors. If a child is absent from AfterCare but was present during the day, and AfterCare has not received word from the parent, the parent will be contacted by 2:30 p.m. to verify that the child is safe.
DISMISSAL FROM CLASS:
At 2:00 p.m., kindergarteners and first graders will be picked up by AfterCare counselors and escorted to AfterCare. Second through fifth graders going to AfterCare will be escorted by one of the teachers in their grade.
DISMISSAL FROM AFTERCARE:
Parents and authorized individuals may pick AfterCare students up from the school's front desk. Every student must be signed out. Every person picking up a student from Aftercare should be prepared to show a picture I.D.
Only those individuals listed on the registration form will be permitted to pick-up a child from AfterCare, unless the Supervisor is notified by telephone or written message.
