Parent Information Acknowledgment and Responsibilities

    • IMPORTANT: My child and I are responsible for returning the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) iPad, charging adapter, charging cord, VILS iPad case, and screen protector in good functional condition at the end of the current school year to Westpine Middle School.
    • IMPORTANT: My child and I understand that if the device and charging equipment are NOT turned in or in good working condition, then we will be responsible for the cost associated with the device: charging cable, charging adapter, case, and screen protector. It's important to note that parents are responsible for replacing a lost/stolen iPad accessory. You can purchase an iPad charger on Amazon or at a local store for a fraction of the price. If any part of the device is not returned at the time of our iPad collection, a financial obligation will be placed on your child's BCPS account.
    • INSURANCE INFORMATION: I (Parent/Guardian) understand that if the device needs to be repaired as a result of accidental or intentional damage: Coverage includes repairs up to the purchase price of the iPad ($429). Each time a device is repaired, the repair cost will be deducted from the cap. Once the cap amount is reached, the device will no longer have coverage available, then I will be responsible for the price of the repair.
    • My child and I are responsible for reporting ALL damage(s) to the device, charging adapter, screen protector, case, and charging cord within 48 hours of the incident to the school-based micro tech, iPad technology team, teacher, and or school administrators.
    • My child and I are responsible for charging the iPad every night and ensuring the iPad is brought to school daily to be used for academic purposes.
    • My child and I are responsible for charging the iPad every night and ensuring the iPad is brought to school daily to be used for academic purposes. Westpine Middle School is not liable for lost or stolen iPad chargers. We strongly recommend that students charge their iPads overnight and leave the chargers at home to minimize the risk of theft.
    • I (Parent/Guardian) understand that my child is expected to be a good digital citizen and to utilize the device in accordance with the Broward County Code of Conduct. I also understand that ANY usage that violates the Broward County Code of Conduct will result in the device being revoked and consequences that are aligned with the BCPS Discipline matrix.
    • I (Parent/Guardian) understand that I, the parent/guardian, should conduct frequent iPad checks throughout the school year to assess the device and ensure that there is no damage to the device, that the screen protector has not been removed, and that the charger is in good working condition.

Lost iPad and iPad Accessories Obligations

  • Attention Westpine Parents,

Many students misplace their iPad plugs/adapters and cords throughout the year. It's important to note that parents are responsible for replacing these iPad accessories. You can purchase a charger on Amazon or at a local store for a fraction of the price. If any part of the device is not returned at our end-of-the-year iPad collection, a financial obligation will be placed on your child's BCPS account. The amount of this obligation is indicated in the chart below.

Furthermore, students returning to Westpine for the following academic school year will be reassigned to the same device, charging adapter, and cord. Obligations must be paid in full for your child to receive an iPad during the next school year.
