Welcome Letter

  • Principal Mrs.Veliz

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! With the easing of our gathering restrictions, I hope you and your families have taken advantage of our beautiful weather this summer. Hopefully, our students have used some of their time away to relax, recharge, and get ready to embrace the upcoming school year. I am delighted that we are returning to in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year and all of us at Mirror Lake look forward to seeing our students on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. This year our Open Houses will be scheduled on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 for an hour allotted time. Please take this opportunity to get to know the classroom teacher, school programs, and expectations. Specific grade levels are assigned the following times and parking areas:

    • Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten: 8:30 am (we are asking for Pre-K to park by the back-car loop and Kindergarten in front of the school)
    • 1st & 5th Grades: 9:30 am (1st grade to park in front of the school and 5th by the back-car loop)
    • 3rd & 4th Grades: 10:30 am (3rd to park in the back-car loop and 4th grade in the front)
    • ESE Specialized Classes & 2nd Grades: 11:30 am (special programs park in front of the school and 2nd grade in the back-car loop)

I truly believe that our students benefit most when they are in the building, being guided by innovative teachers and receiving a high-quality education. At my core, I find Mirror Lake to be an amazing learning community, powered by dedicated staff members who really care about children. Our staff members are welcoming and are committed to ensuring that each student receives the best education.

Our school theme this year is titled “One Team, One Dream.” Each grade level and staff group has selected a sport of their choice.   We are equipped to play the game and succeed!  Parents who wish to escort their child (red) to class must exit the campus by 7:55 am on the first day only.  All other days are considered “independence days”.  This means that students go to class independently.  Please also ensure that your child arrives to school on time daily.  Students should be dropped off daily between 7:30- 7:55 am.  Any child arriving after 8:00 am will be asked to come to the front office with their parent/guardian to obtain a late pass.  Attendance is critical for a child’s success.  Please ensure that your child arrives to school on time daily.

Success in school is greatly influenced by what occurs out of school. Total success is a community endeavor and Mirror Lake staff appreciates the support you provide your children at home and at school in order to help them meet their learning goals. This year, we ask that you continue your efforts to help us help your students. We also ask that you join our dynamic PTO.  Most of our events are sponsored by PTO and they bring us together as One Team fulfilling our One Dream, which is the triumph and victory of our students.  Please join us in the many upcoming family nights and events this school year.  Our PTO has already purchased a book vending machine to provide our children with the love of learning and enjoyment of reading.

In closing, I must say that each year brings forth new opportunities and experiences.  I am delighted to have our students back in the building and am looking forward to reconnecting with our returning students while building new connections with our incoming Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergartners. I look forward to working with you to build our “One Team, One Dream”.

    Respectfully,

    Marlen Veliz,

    Proud Principal
