Driftwood Elementary takes pride in their speech and debate after-school program. Participation in speech and debate builds confidence, boosts classroom performance, improves communication, and increases critical thinking skills to prepare students for college. Additionally, research has shown that taking part in speech and debate allows students to:

Acquire better poise, speech delivery, and public speaking skills

Students are coached to compete in events of their choice, which include:

With four yearly competitions, and one culminating championship, students have many opportunities to grow, network, and have their voices heard.
**Students must be able to take part in after-school competitions. Schedule for after-school tournaments are posted at the beginning of every academic year.
