Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Marietta DeArmas
It is my pleasure, honor, and privilege to be the principal of J.P. Taravella High since November of 2018. Before I was an educator I worked as a paralegal for many years while going to school and raising a family. I was able to earn my degree and I started teaching Mathematics in Broward County Schools in 2000. In 2012 I stepped out of the classroom to become an administrator and that was a big change for me because my passion was always to be a classroom teacher. As the leader of our school I don't lose sight of that passion, it is what drives me on a daily basis to ensure that our students are being challenged and encouraged to be the best that they can be.
I am proud to share that the staff and students at JPT are beyond any you will ever find anywhere else. We have established a community of love and kindness. Our students know that they have a place they can call home in JPT and that there is someone always available to them for their academic and emotional support. I am always excited to attend all the different events that occur on our campus and am always amazed at the accomplishments of our students. Of course these things could not occur if it wasn't for the amazing faculty at JPT. Teachers at JPT go above and beyond to serve our students and our community. They lead by example and encourage our students to get involved as well. Our staff is a family: students, teachers, administrators, custodians, security, paraprofessionals, cafeteria staff, school counselors, clerical, support staff and so much more. We do not work apart from each other, we work together and it makes a difference.
All great schools have strong connections with the families and communities they serve, sharing in the responsibility of educating our students. We welcome healthy partnerships with families, as it is imperative that educators and parents join forces to provide a rich and supportive educational experience for our students. And it is because of these connections through our SAC, PTSO, SAF, and more that our ties are strengthened and our family is extended into our community which includes both Coral Springs and Tamarac.
Our student and staff population is diverse in culture and it only makes us stronger and more united because no matter where you come from once you enter the doors of JPT there is no doubt that there are TWO TYPES OF PEOPLE: "TROJANS AND THOSE WHO WANT TO BE TROJANS." "WE ARE TROJANS!"
Love and Blessings,
