    Dear Walker Family,

Welcome back to the 2020-2021 academic school year at the wonderful Walker Elementary School. I am honored to serve you as principal for another year and as your Wildcat lead learner. We have much to be proud of and our accomplishments are a testament to the determination of our students, parents, and teachers. The world has changed, the definition of summer vacation has changed, and what teaching and learning will look like to start this year has changed. As we continue to adapt and navigate the new normal that is this pandemic, we must rise to our highest heights. We will still win every moment, whether it be face to face or virtually through our eLearning platform, which begins on August 19, 2020. One constant in education is change. Change is not always easy or comfortable. The school closure this year caused a significant change in how teachers provide instruction to their students, but as a result of the work put in by all of the staff at Walker Elementary and the support of our scholars and their families, we were able to work together to finish up the school year strong. Through a lot of strategic planning, collaboration, and deliberate work, the staff has planned an amazing learning experience for the start of 2020. The commitment, dedication, and passion that the Walker Elementary staff, students, and parents continue to show are a phenomenal foundation for what the future holds. Together we will be virtually unstoppable. We look forward to building on the foundation that has been cultivated, and working with and supporting all stakeholders to add to the rich history, culture, and legacy of Clarence C. Walker, Sr., our school’s namesake.

As your principal, I will serve and defend your child’s right to be amazing. We have a true open-door policy and welcome the opinions and ideas of others. All that I ask is that if you have a specific concern about something that happens in your child’s classroom, that you give the respect and courtesy to your child’s teacher and discuss the issue with them first. Working hand in hand, I am confident that all issues and concerns can be rectified with positive results. I want to wish each and every member of our Walker Family a successful school year, and thank you for entrusting your children to us during the school day. Whether virtually through eLearning or face-to-face, I pledge to each of you that we will do everything in our power to make sure that your child’s needs are met. I am looking forward to a truly spectacular year!

    Sincerely, Tauri Eligon

    Proud Principal, Walker Elementary
