Principal's Message

  • Mr. T. EligonDear Walker Family,

    Welcome to the 2021-2022 academic school year at the wonderful Walker Elementary School. I am honored to serve you as Principal for another year and as your Wildcat lead learner. This past year was unlike any other year. As a county, district, community, and school, we met all challenges with pride, support, and love. The world has changed, the definition of summer vacation has changed, and what teaching and learning will look like to start this year will continue to change. As we continue to adapt and navigate as we begin to transition out of the pandemic, we must continue to grow, learn, and lead. This year, we will start the year with 100% face-to-face instruction. This year we will march into success as we bring amazing experiences and higher expectations. We will raise the bar and make sure that our kings and queens improve upon the skills they will need to succeed in life. Our objectives are:

    • For our scholars to be prepared for instruction every day. (Attendance Matters);
    • For our scholars to be in class and ready to learn by 8:30 every morning. (Breakfast starts at 8:00 AM);
    • To always believe in our kings and queens and support our amazing teachers;
    • For our scholars to be dressed for success in their school uniforms (No jeans, ripped jeans or pants; No  slippers, slides, or Crocs, only closed-toed sneakers or shoes; uniform polo shirts, no graphic tees or tank tops);
    • To maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust;
    • For our scholars to read and write as much as possible across all curriculum and subject areas;
    • And most importantly, for our scholars to enjoy learning!

    The motto that all students can learn is no longer enough. At Walker, we believe that every student can achieve. The hurdles and obstacles of life will always be there. How we march on to overcome those barriers, dictates our greatness. Together, we will march on to greatness. Through a lot of strategic planning, collaboration, and deliberate work, the staff has planned an amazing learning experience for 2021. The commitment, dedication, and passion that the Walker Elementary staff, students, and parents continue to show are a phenomenal foundation for what the future holds. We look forward to building on the foundation and legacy that has been cultivated by Clarence C. Walker, Sr., our school’s namesake.

    Along with Ms. Temple, the best assistant principal in Florida, we will serve and defend your child’s right to be amazing. We have a true open-door policy and welcome the opinions and ideas of others. All that I ask is that if you have a specific concern about something that happens in your child’s classroom, that you give respect and courtesy to your child’s teacher to discuss the issue with them first. Working hand in hand, I am confident that all concerns can be rectified with positive results. I want to wish every member of our Walker Family a successful school year and thank you for entrusting your children to us during the school day. I pledge to each of you that we will do everything in our power to make sure that your child’s needs are met. I am looking forward to a truly spectacular year!

    Sincerely,
    Mr. T. Eligon
