Meet the Counselor

  • School counselors promote and enhance achievement with an annual comprehensive school counseling plan that ensures that every student receives school counseling services. Credentialed school counselors provide comprehensive counseling programs that incorporate prevention and intervention with continuous academic, career, and personal/development activities that will prepare them for meaningful participation in a diverse, changing world. These activities include classroom guidance, small groups for skill mastery, individual counseling for students with specific needs, and a variety of other proactive and innovative ways to support student performance.

School counselors implement a program based on the National Standards for School Counseling Programs and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. They also provide resources to staff, students, families, and others to ensure that a family-friendly environment is established and ensure that students have access to a safe school climate necessary for academic and social/emotional growth.

Parents are always welcome to come in or call 754-322-8800 for assistance or advice.

My goal for the school counseling program is to help ALL students achieve their highest potential by removing barriers that impede their social-emotional, academic, and future career exploration endeavors.

I am a native Floridian. I moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and worked for Gwinnett County Public Schools as a long-term substitute teacher in various grade levels and settings for several years. My desire has always been to help others, which is why I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology with the hope that one day I would continue a career in the field of counseling.

While working in the school system, I discovered that I enjoyed working with children and that I could withdraw from my previous background of working in the criminal court system to serve our children and families as a school counselor. In 2012, I earned my master’s degree in educational school counseling and received a Georgia and Florida professional educator certification in school counseling. In 2014, I started my career as a school counselor in the Florida Public School System.

I am proud to be the school counselor and part of the Walker Elementary (WILDCATS) family!

Please, feel free to call or email to schedule an appointment between the hours of 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
