Welcome Banyan Elementary Students and Parents,
I am Tresa Chance, the School Counselor, and I am so excited to be a part of the Banyan Elementary family. I am eager to work with our students as I implement a comprehensive School Counseling program targeted at Personal/Social development, Academic development, and Career development. The School Counseling Program is inclusive of every student in PK – Grade 5 and is based on National Standards for School Counseling Programs. Various school counseling lessons will be taught that help students learn how to regulate their emotions, use coping strategies, build healthy relationships, and make good decisions and healthy choices. Social and emotional wellness is so important as students strive to strengthen their academics and make purposeful career decisions. This will be the focus of the School Counseling activities, including classroom lessons, small counseling groups for skills mastery, and brief individual counseling for students with specific needs.
Resources are also available for students, parents, and staff to ensure that students have access to a safe school climate necessary for academic and social/emotional growth.
You are always welcome to come in or call 754-322-6350.
School Counselors
-
School counselors promote and enhance achievement with an annual comprehensive school counseling plan that ensures that every student receives school counseling services. Credentialed school counselors provide comprehensive counseling programs that incorporate prevention and intervention with continuous academic, career, and personal/development activities that will prepare them for meaningful participation in a diverse, changing world. These activities include classroom guidance, small groups for skill mastery, individual counseling for students with specific needs, and a variety of other proactive and innovative ways to support student performance.
School counselors implement a program based on the National Standards for School Counseling Programs and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. They also provide resources to staff, students, families, and others to ensure that a family-friendly environment is established and ensure that students have access to a safe school climate necessary for academic and social/emotional growth.
Parents are always welcome to come in or call 754-322-5350 for assistance or advice.
