What is the Creek Technical Academy?
The Creek Technical Academy is a magnet program offering real-world preparation for college and 21st century careers, with a focus on high skill, high wage professions. Students complete a technical program and have the opportunity to earn industry credentials/or licenses. All students receive a rigorous college-bound curriculum. Students learn in an innovative and professional environment fostered by the use of advanced learning methods and technology. Highly qualified educators will implement a demanding and relevant curriculum, one in which technology, standards, and skill development are embedded. Project based learning creates self-sufficiency and is effective in preparing students for further academic studies and the world of work.

What programs are part of the magnet?
There are a variety of programs in the following career clusters: Architecture and Construction, Business Management and Administration, Health Science/Medical, Hospitality and Tourism, Information Technology, Law, Public Service, Manufacturing, and Transportation. Specific programs can be found on our Atlantic Technical College website.

How many students will be accepted this year?
The school has been approved for up to 150 students in the incoming freshman class.

What are the entrance requirements?
- Must reside north of Sunrise Boulevard
- Must have scored at least level 3 on FCAT/FSA reading and math within the last 3 years
- Minimum 2.5 GPA on core (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies) on the most recent 7th grade report card

What are the benefits of the program?
In addition to participating in a highly rigorous and relevant curriculum all graduates will have the opportunity to leave school with:

How does the program work?
In grades 9 and 10 students follow a rigorous college preparatory curriculum in core subjects and high school graduation requirements. College-level AICE, AP, and Duel Enrollment courses are available for students who qualify. Starting in grade 11 students will spend half of their day in academic classes and the other half in their chosen technical program of study. Technical program courses will be taken as Career Dual Enrollment (CDE) classes for the students who qualify.

What are Career Dual Enrollment (CDE) courses?
Career Dual Enrollment students are scheduled into a postsecondary technical program of study. Students taking CDE coursework are awarded two additional quality points on their weighted GPA. Upon postsecondary program completion students have the opportunity to articulate college credit to an aligned program in a Florida state college.

Can I participate in sports and extracurricular activities if I am in the CTA?
Yes.

Will I get transportation?
For all students who reside north of Sunrise Boulevard and more than 2 miles from CCHS, transportation will be offered.

What are the school hours?
School hours for students at Coconut Creek HS including the CTA will be 6:50 AM - 1:35 PM

What if my child in not an incoming freshman, can (s)he still participate in the program?
Yes! We accept 10th graders if there is space available. It also depends what classes they have taken in their 9th grade year as well as their current GPA and FSA test scores.
