Dear Gulfstream Academy Parents, Guardians, Students, and Community Members:

Welcome to the beginning of an exciting new school year at Gulfstream Academy, where our theme, "One Team. One Dream. One Gulfstream," inspires us to come together as a unified community dedicated to excellence.

As your principal, I am honored and thrilled to embark on this journey alongside our students, families, staff and community members. This year, we are committed to fostering a collaborative environment where every member of our school community plays a vital role in our collective success.

Looking back at our accomplishments from the previous academic year, we are thrilled to highlight some exceptional achievements. Through our unwavering dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence, we have seen a notable increase of 5% in our total points earned under the Florida Department of Education School Accountability Reporting System. This achievement brings us within just 2 percentage points of attaining a “B” letter grade. These advancements underscore the substantial academic progress achieved by our students and reinforce our determination to exceed our goals in the upcoming year.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting lineup of events and activities planned to enrich the educational experience for our students and strengthen our bonds as a school community. I invite you to join us for our Resource Fair on August 9, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., where you can explore valuable resources and connect with our staff. Additionally, our schedule pick-up and Meet the Teacher event during this time will provide an opportunity for students and parents to familiarize themselves with our school environment.

Please mark your calendars for the first day of school, August 12, 2024. School hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with student supervision provided from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. For families utilizing bus transportation, please note that eligible students who registered by June 28th are guaranteed a bus for the first day. Registrations received after July 12th will be processed as quickly as possible.

Eligible students needing bus transportation for this school year who were registered at https://tfsweb.browardschools.com/ride by June 28th are guaranteed a bus for the first day of school. Students registered by July 12th will receive a bus assignment by the second week of school. Registrations received after July 12th will be routed expeditiously in the order in which they were received. If you have any questions, please email register2ride@browardschools.com or call 754-323-5950.

A reminder to parents: it is essential that students have updated state-required immunizations to receive their schedules. Compliance with this requirement is critical: No Shots – No School. For any questions regarding immunizations, please contact our School Counseling Department at 754-323-5950.

On the first day of school, students will receive packets containing important documents. We kindly ask parents/guardians to review, complete, sign, and return the required school forms with their child by Friday, August 16, 2024.

Together, as "One Team. One Dream. One Gulfstream," we will continue to strive for excellence in all aspects of our educational journey. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share, please do not hesitate to reach out.

I look forward to a fantastic school year filled with growth, achievement, and memorable experiences for each of our students.

    Sincerely,

    Lynne Bonny, Principal
