Greetings, Colt Family!
My name is Tarshé Freeman, newly appointed and proud principal of Gulfstream Academy of Hallandale Beach K-8. I have been an educator for over twenty years and it is my honor to serve all Hallandale Beach stakeholders including students, staff, and the community at-large for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year!
While envisioning this year’s theme, I found great inspiration from Bill Withers’ song “Lovely Day.” Now, more than ever, self-care and continuous support are necessary as we try to trot through the current reality of varied educational models including, but not limited to, e-learning. We have made collective discoveries in shifting to new methods of teaching and learning for students and staff. Each Colt family member is currently facing fluctuating levels of uncertainty and may have similar feelings in these unprecedented times. Therefore, at Gulfstream Academy of Hallandale Beach K-8, we will continue to build “stable” relationships through mindfulness, accountability, and transformation.
I am also an avid believer in creating safe spaces for all stakeholders to engage in daily wellness activities. Together, we will be centering this school year around self-care, transforming knowledge into experiences, and supporting each other through the process! Previous successes will serve as our strong foundation for continuous improvement by caring for, and educating the whole-child through academic, social-emotional learning, and mental health practices. With this in mind, “it’s gonna be a lovely day” at Gulfstream Academy of Hallandale Beach K-8.
Yours in Education,
Tarshé Freeman, Principal
