Meet the Counselors

  • School counselors promote and enhance achievement with an annual comprehensive school counseling plan that ensures that every student receives school counseling services. Credentialed school counselors provide comprehensive counseling programs that incorporate prevention and intervention with continuous academic, career, and personal/development activities that will prepare them for meaningful participation in a diverse, changing world. These activities include classroom guidance, small groups for skill mastery, individual counseling for students with specific needs, and a variety of other proactive and innovative ways to support student performance.

School counselors implement a program based on the National Standards for School Counseling Programs and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. They also provide resources to staff, students, families, and others to ensure that a family-friendly environment is established and ensure that students have access to a safe school climate necessary for academic and social/emotional growth.

Parents are always welcome to come in or call 754-322-3300 for assistance or advice.

    Dear PSE Families and Staff,

My name is Nicole Tufo and I am very excited to return to our PSE family as your School Counselor! This will be my eighth year here at Park Springs. I have been a School Counselor for Broward Schools for the last twelve years.

I am very excited about the 2021-2022 school year, as I have many exciting school-wide activities planned for our students. Many of our upcoming activities will help to create a positive school environment for our PSE Panthers.  At the beginning of the school year, we have an assembly for our students in grades K-5 to discuss school expectations and go over our Anti-Bullying Policy.

As the school counselor, I will be participating in several activities with your children throughout the school year. I will be visiting classrooms to teach many different lessons. Some of the various topics I may be teaching are tolerance, school success strategies, self-confidence, computer and Internet safety, goal setting, and test-taking strategies.

I will also be running small groups and offering individual counseling to work with student needs in a smaller setting.  Some of the groups I may be offering are family changes, grief counseling, self-confidence, social skills, self-control, and relational aggression.  If you would like to refer your child for either small group or individual counseling, or are in need of other services, please feel free to contact me at 754-322-7750. I am looking forward to another great year working with our students!

    Sincerely,

    Mrs. Nicole Tufo

Dear families, students, staff, and community members,

Helping students be the best they can be emotionally, academically, and socially has always been my mission throughout my years as a school counselor.  Our emotional well-being is just as important to us as the breath we take.  Working as a counselor for the past 13 years has been a privilege and a joy as I see students grow and reach their full potential.

My name is Marcela Rasa, and I am so extremely excited to be here at Park Springs Elementary School as a new and additional counselor for the PSE families, students, and staff.  This new school year 2021-2022 is going to be a great one!  With double the counseling power, the sky is the limit!  We have many school wide activities planned as we celebrate peace, kindness, diversity, no bullying, just say no to drugs, no name calling week, promoting digital safety and more.  School is a place to feel safe, included and inspired.  And my goal is to help cultivate those feels for all students as much as possible.

Counseling benefits are numerous including but not limited to less anxiety, greater self-confidence, better relationships, increased assertiveness, regulating emotions, and more.  Through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling sessions, I will be working with the students of Park Springs to support them in their emotional, academic, and social development.  I am also here for you families because I know sometimes things go beyond the classroom, and I am always here to provide resources and services to help in any way I can.  Whether you need services or perhaps to refer your child for a small group or an individual counseling session, you can reach me at my office phone number or via e-mail which has been provided below.

Looking forward to an amazing year!

    Best regards,

    Marcela Rasa
