Clubs and organizations are a great way to help develop character and the skills that will benefit you in school, your career, and in life. Skills like commitment, leadership, effective communication, and being able to work successfully in a group all come from participating in a club or organization. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and boost your college resumé.

Art Club
Art club students will be exploring areas of ceramics, fabrics, paper crafts and more to help broaden the interest for these materials in art making.Club Sponsor: Ms. GarciaGrades: 3 through 5

Chorus
A student learning choice of musical activities (Songwriting, Movement/Orff, Modern Band with a Choral focus). Mostly, to spark creativity and student-centered learning.

Cooking Club
The place where students learn real-life skills in the most delicious way. They will learn to read and modify recipes while working together. Food isn't only the way to a person's heart, but a way to make learning fun. Bon appetite!

Dance Club
Maplewood's dance team is an after-school club where students come together to dance primarily to hip-hop music. The club is an integral part of Maplewood's events, often performing and showcasing their talents during various occasions. With a focus on hip-hop, the club fosters creativity, expression, and camaraderie among its students, creating a dynamic and energetic atmosphere for dancers of all skill levels to thrive.

Debate Club
Students will meet to develop oratory, communication, and critical thinking skills by learning and engaging in debate with peers and in competition with other Broward County students.

Fitness Club
The Fitness Club will focus on physical fitness through exercise, organized play, and long-distance running. We will gradually build the students' running stamina with the goal of participating in a 5K race.

Game Day
FP Game Day is a FREE, fast-paced, sixty-minute, faith-based club that will meet once a week. Our goal is to create a fun, safe, and enriching environment for your child. All 4th and 5th-grade students are welcome regardless of religious background. Students will participate in fun and high-energy games while making new friends and learning important life lessons along the way. Game Day is designed to share essential monthly character values throughout the year. We will focus on compassion, integrity, honesty, kindness, respect and hard work, all with Biblical truths.

Peace
Peace club gives students an opportunity to express themselves in a positive and friendly environment. Students will work together in our school and community to promote positivity and kindness through various activities.

Play Pals
Play pals are teacher-nominated students that work directly with students who have disabilities to develop inclusive friendships.
This year we have 2 different Play Pal models:
Pre-k Play Pal: Students work weekly with our Pre-k classes for students with disabilities. The students work to build inclusive relationships in a small group setting. They encourage social interaction and communication skills. They assist with Special Olympics training and competition.
Special Programs Play Pal Buddy: Students are paired with individual special programs students and will participate in inclusive friendship building activities weekly. These students will participate in activities for Special Programs students and Special Olympics.

Robotics
The VEX Robotics Club challenges small teams of 3-6 students to design, build, and program a robot to play a floor game with other teams from our district and state. Robotics enhances student interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Students are engaged in hands-on, experimental and sustainable robotics engineering programs.

WOWL
WOWL Television is a school television station that provides students the complete opportunity to engage with school. The team is made up of students and staff and they prepare relevant information daily for the school: the National Anthem, birthdays, and special events. The students present the information by anchoring in front of the cameras, which affirms their confidence while also improving their reading a presentation abilities.
In essence, WOWL Television serves as an informational channel that aims to boost the school spirit daily at Maplewood Elementary School.
