    Dear Meadowbrook Elementary Families & Community,

     

    Welcome to the Meadowbrook Elementary School website.  We hope you find many useful resources here and continue to periodically visit to learn about upcoming school events, programs and recognitions. 

    A few key updates:

    • We completed a Day of Service and Love campus beautification project on February 14, 2023 to commemorate the tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that took place five years ago on February 14, 2018.  Meadowbrook students and staff planted 34 palm trees throughout campus with 17 palms in honor of the lives lost and 17 palms in honor of the families that were forever impacted that horrific day
    • Spring Break is March 20-24, 2023
    • FAST testing session #3 is approaching, check website for testing dates
    • Our PTA is coordinating a Family Spring Dance on March 31, 2023 @ 6pm
    • Now is the perfect time to contact your child’s teacher to schedule a conference if you have not already conferenced two times this school year
    • Breakfast and lunch are FREE for all students this school year

    I am very excited to continue into my fourth year as principal at Meadowbrook Elementary School.  Our theme for 2022-2023 is “Soaring on Strong Wings” and our vision remains “Meadowbrook will provide rigorous standards-based instruction to meet the needs of the 21st Century learner in a safe and secure learning environment.”  We look forward to working with our students, families, PTA, community and Partners in Education to make this a very special year for Meadowbrook Elementary School.  We invite you to join us in our vision and reaching our goals.  Follow me on Twitter at @MeadowbrookElem and contact the office at 754-323-6500 to confirm that your contact information, address and cell phone is current.

    Personal:

    • My son graduated from University of Central Florida with computer science engineering degree and currently lives in the Pacific Northwest
    • My daughter is in her final year at University of Florida studying industrial engineering
    • My wife is an elementary school teacher with Broward County Public Schools

    The Meadowbrook Community, Teachers, Students & Staff are proud of these accomplishments:

    • Raised $4,000 for American Heart Association during Jump Rope for Heart and recognized as #1 fundraiser in Broward County Public Schools (2022)
    • Imagine Learning National Award Winner School for ESOL (2021 & 2022)
    • “A” School in 2004, 2006, 2009 & 2010
    • “B” School in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2015, 2017 & 2018

    A few key accomplishments from 2021-2022:

    • Started school year 100% face to face for 700 students during pandemic
    • Distributed 500+ laptop computers to students
    • Held intervention camps and tutoring programs
    • Completed myriad teacher and staff PD
    • Held in-house field trips, field days, clubs and Grade 5 graduation
    • Effectively implemented COVID protocols and increased sanitization practices
    • Experienced extremely few COVID cases among student and staff
    • Strengthened Dual Language Program in Grade K-5
    • 2021-2022 Academic Accomplishments (compared to prior year)
      • Increased Grade 4 Reading by 10 points
      • Increased Grade 5 Reading by 1 point
      • Increased Grade 4 Math by 16 points
      • Increased Grade 3-5 Math by 2 points
      • Increased ELA Learning Gains by 23 points
      • Increased Math Learning Gains by 33 points
      • Increased ELA Learning Gains (Low 25%) by 12 points
      • Increased Math Learning Gains (Low 25%) by 6 points
      • Increased Total School Grade Points by 64 points
