Colbert's award-winning Sprouting STEAM Museum Magnet is committed to academic excellence. The integration of the museum model in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) curriculum offers students the opportunity to explore, experiment, explain, and exhibit research through engaging real-world projects using the Engineering Design Process principles. Student learning is culminated at the end of each quarter with a student-curated engineering showcase/museum night that features STEAM exhibits and knowledgeable docents.

There is no academic criteria to apply to Colbert's Sprouting STEAM Museum Magnet program.
Transportation for Magnet Students

CMMS offers transportation for eligible students living South of State Road 84 and at least 2 miles away from the school. Transportation WILL NOT be provided for students granted a Reassignment. It is the parent’s sole responsibility to provide transportation for their child.

How do I know if my child has been accepted into the program?
Visit www.browardschools.com/schoolchoice and click on Check My Status OR contact the school's Magnet Coordinator at 754-323-5125.

When will I receive notification about transportation?
The transportation schedule will be mailed to eligible parents the week prior to the first day of school.

Will I be automatically registered at the school after being accepted into the program?
No, you must visit the school to register by the registration deadline or the seat will be lost.
If your child is coming from a Broward County Public School (BCPS), you'll need the following: 2 proofs of residency and your driver's license.
If your child is coming from a Charter School, Miami-Dade County Public School, or has never been enrolled in BCPS, you'll need the following: physical shot records, birth certificate, last report card (if applicable), 2 proofs of residency, and your driver's license.

What if I missed the registration deadline?
If your child was awarded a School Choice seat, but you did not notify the school to register by the deadline, your seat will be returned to the applicant pool.
If you are not interested in your child accepting the awarded seat, no further action is needed.
However, if you are still interested in the awarded seat, please email schoolchoice@browardschools.com to request for your child to be placed into the waitpool for an available seat.

What are the school hours, student dress code, information about aftercare, and how to schedule a school tour?
Student hours are from 7:45 AM- 1:45 AM.
CMMS is a unified dress code school. School colors are red, white, blue, and khaki.
Onsite aftercare is provided through Sunshine Aftercare. They can be contacted directly regarding availability, registration, and cost at 954-236-8850.
Campus tours are available Monday-Friday. Contact the Magnet Coordinator at 754-323-5125 to schedule a visit.
