Before and After School Child Care

The mission of Before and After School Child Care (BASCC) is to provide students enrolled in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) with:
- an inclusive child care program in a safe and nurturing environment
- a culturally enriching program that promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child
- a program that meets the highest quality of childcare standards

Program Overview
Christina G. Smith Community Mental Health Foundation
Private Provider Approved by the School BoardChristina G. Smith Community Mental Health Foundation offers behavioral health special needs afterschool/summer programming for elementary, middle and
high school aged youth. These programs include: the elementary aged MOST Therapeutic After School/Summer Program “Peaceful Champions: Character
Development and Violence Prevention through Martial Arts for Peace,” our middle school prevention program now known as Youth Force (substance,
pregnancy and violence prevention) and our high school supported employment program called STEP (Supported, Training and Employment Program). These programs all have a strong focus on character development and skill building. Each program synthesizes a number of treatment approaches which facilitate clients in building appropriate skills, attitudes and experiences within the home, school and community. Services include academic support, social skills development, problem solving/conflict mediation education, prevention education, independent living skills development, and arts/recreation programming.Activities and Services Offered:
- MOST - martial art training, group education, social skill training, anger management, conflict resolution, academic assistance and family support services.
- Youth Force: youth development activities, independently living skills training, prevention education, leadership training, service linkage and referral, and academic enrichment activities.
- STEP: Employment skills training, Career exploration, soft skills for employment training, financial literacy education, independent living skills development, counseling, and life coaching.
