Greetings Apollo Rockets!
I am pleased to welcome you to Apollo Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year. We are extremely excited to welcome you back to Apollo’s campus. We are getting “Back to Basics” to ensure your scholars receive a world class education. The safety and security of your child is my first priority, and I want to make you aware of our security procedures.
The only students permitted onto campus prior to 9:00 A.M. are those students participating in before care provided by Hispanic Unity or 21st Century. Those students are required to enter campus through our single point of entry in the main office. At 9:00 A.M. all other students are permitted on campus; however, they must enter through the west cafeteria doors.
It is mandatory for all students to wear an I.D. badge while on campus. Students will receive a temporary I.D. badge and a lanyard color-coded for their specific grade level. All 6th graders must use the red lanyard provided, 7th graders the white lanyard provided, and 8th graders the blue lanyard provided. Replacement lanyards may be purchased from the media center for $1.00. Students will receive a permanent I.D. badge after the school picture day on September 24th. I.D. badges must always be worn around the student’s neck and be visible. The cost for a replacement I.D. badge is $3.00 and can be purchased in the media center. Apollo Middle School is proud to announce we use the HERO system to track and reward our students. Students must scan their I.D. badge when they enter the building. ID badges are also used when checking out books, getting breakfast, and getting lunch.
Apollo Middle School follows a unified dress code. Students are permitted to wear solid navy blue, red, and white-colored polo style shirts and navy blue, khaki, black or jean pants, shorts, or skirts. Throughout the year various clubs may sell different spirit shirts or shirts with the school logo. These shirts may also be worn as part of Apollo’s unified dress code. It is the expectation all Apollo Rockets will follow the unified dress code. Apollo Middle School follows the mask policy established by Broward County Public Schools.
As always, any visitor to Apollo must have a valid I.D. to enter the campus. After 9:30 A.M., the front gate will be closed. A campus monitor will be sitting by the entrance and will open the gate to allow you to enter. Upon entrance, you will be asked for your driver’s license. The campus monitor will record your license number and radio the front office. The doors to the front office will remain locked at all times. If for some reason the campus monitor at the gate needs to leave his/her post, the gate will be locked. If you need to enter campus and the monitor has locked the gate, you are to dial 754-323-2900 and let the receptionist know that you need admittance to campus. Someone will come out to the gate and let you in. All visitors will be processed through the district’s Raptor System. All adults must wear an I.D. badge while on campus. Additionally, no student sign-outs will be permitted after 3:30 P.M. Please be mindful that parent pick-up and drop off takes place in the loop located on the north side of the front of the school.
I look forward to another Stem-tastic school year.
Your Proud Principal, Apollo Middle School
