Resiliency Education Mandate
The Florida Department of Education Administrative Rule 6A-1.094124 requires annual mandatory instruction related to resiliency education, substance use and misuse health education, child trafficking prevention education, and internet safety prevention education. Ensure that appropriate lessons are assigned to students as all lessons are grade-level-specific.

Content Warning: Some lessons may evoke strong or difficult emotions for some students. Each school has a plan in place for students in need of support and staff able to provide it on campus (school counselors, school social workers, and school psychologists). Make sure any staff facilitating the lessons know this and shares it with their students.
Please Note: There is no option to opt students out of the lessons. If you have concerns about any specific topics, please reach out to your child's School Counselor.

Mental Wellness - January 30 - February 3
General Objectives for Mental Wellness
- Students will learn what mental wellness is.
- Students will learn how emotional, social, and physical factors can influence mental wellness
- Students will learn protective strategies for caring for their mental wellness.
- Students will develop awareness and empathy for themselves and others who may need support to manage their mental wellness.

General Objectives for Online Safety
- Students will protect themselves and others online.
- Students will be respectful and show empathy to others online.
- Students will balance time and activities online and off.
- Students will evaluate the accuracy and validity of digital media.
- Students will use technology to make a positive difference.

General Objectives for Reducing the Risk of Suicide
- Students will identify warning signs for themselves or someone else who may be having thoughts of suicide.
- Students will understand the importance of seeking help if they or someone else is having thoughts of suicide.
- Students will identify resources to help themselves or someone else who may be having thoughts of suicide.

General Objectives for Preventing Substance Use Disorders
- Students will understand the risks for teens using illegal substances such as alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, and other drugs.
- Students will identify the signs and symptoms that a person may have a substance use disorder.
- Students will identify protective strategies that may decrease the risk of developing substance use disorders.

- Students will understand what human trafficking is and that it is a violation of human rights .

- Students will develop protective strategies for reducing the risk of being trafficked, as well as empathy to show understanding to others.
