Principal's Message

    Sawgrass Families,

I want to thank all of you for an exceptional start to our 22-23 school year!  Our teachers are focused on providing robust instruction, in turn the children are very busy bees! As you know through the school's communications, we are engaging in the first progress monitoring of the State's new accountability test or the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (F.A.S.T.), which assesses the new Florida benchmarks or B.E.S.T. (Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking).  The F.A.S.T. Assessment is given three times a year, at the beginning, the middle and at the end of the year.  The first two F.A.S.T. Assessments will serve as progress monitoring to inform teachers about what benchmarks are being mastered and which ones need more attention.  The third F.A.S.T. Assessment will be utilized to determine overall success and may encompass promotion / retention implications as well.   Throughout all of this, please trust that your child is receiving the best possible education, and our teachers are ready and willing to assist you in making this school year the best for you and your child.

    In Service,

    Mr. DeCotis,
    Principal
