Thank you for visiting our Summer Academy webpage! We are excited to help you through the process of choosing a Summer Camp that best meets your child's needs. We know that research has proven that students regress when not practicing academics year round. Learning shouldn't end when school gets out for summer vacation! We are excited to be planning for Summer 2017, let us help you make it your child's BEST SUMMER EVER!If you choose to give your child finishing pre-k through second grade the academic advantage of attending our program, Click Here to view our sample whole group curriculum. If you feel your child is academically above or below grade level, share that information with a supervisor when you enroll to ensure proper placement.Primary students participate in skill based reading lessons for phonics, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary. Their math lessons review skills taught in the grade they finish and introduce skills being taught in the grade they will be entering in the fall. Writing lessons are a variety of opinion, non-fiction, and personal narrative activities. We focus on improving spelling and conventions as well as building background experiences to help with generation of ideas from multiple sources.A student finishing third through fifth grade would participate in our intermediate academic program for three hours per day. The reading portion of this program is based on both fictional novels and scholastic news informational texts. During the writing portion of the intermediate program, the students would also participate in self-selected research projects. In math, students complete a "problem of the day, fact fluency challenges and skill checks. The intermediate students are also lucky enough to participate in Dimension U. We have completed and won in district and state challenges with children who are so motivated to practice reading and math skills in this online gaming format. For more information about Dimension U, please visit their website at https://www.dimensionu.com/dimu/home/home.aspx. Intermediate students also participate in two STEM challenges per week as well as a fun science experiment from hypothesis to conclusion. When the academics are over, the fun has just begun!Children have the opportunity to participate in team sports, music, art, drama, physical fitness. We also have weekly in house field trips and splash day! Click here for specific reminders pertaining to splash day. We are in the process of confirming the in-house field trips with all the wonderful vendors we contract with. Check back and the finalized "On-Campus Field Trip Schedule" should be posted by the end of April.Children are provided free breakfast and lunch Monday through Thursday. We ask that you provide snacks daily and send a lunch on Fridays. Please check back and we will post the lunch menu here as soon as the district provides it to us. We will also post the meal times as your child must arrive during the District's allotted meal service times.
