Dear Parents, Guardians and Families of Bayview Elementary School,
Congratulations to our January Students of The Month! Invitations were sent to all families to join us for a morning celebration on Wednesday, February 25th (K-2) or Thursday, February 26th (3-5). This month's character trait is Honesty (Being truthful, trustworthy and sincere). Kudos also goes to the following classes who stand out as the I-Ready superstars for the week: Mr. Lane (Kindergarten), Mrs. Bowman (Grade 1), Ms. Schendowich (Grade 2), Mrs. Banks (Grade 3), Mr. Krajewski (Grade 4) and Ms. Colon (Grade 5). These classes had the highest percentage of combined lessons passed in reading and math.
A few extra-curricular highlights from the week: On Saturday - Mrs. Matiuk and Grade 5 Enrichment hosted a beach clean-up (Fort Lauderdale Beach), Last Thursday - Mr. Krajewski and our debate team competed and performed at Coral Glades High School and PTA has reported that this year's net sales from our Book Fair equaled $17,180.42 ($8,590.21 in Scholastic Dollars). Way to Go!
Nearly 70 students will begin Our Soaring Scholars Math Camp tomorrow. To maximize the experience, we must have consistent attendance, and an incentive will be in place for those children who attend all camp days. Questions regarding Math Camp can be directed to Ms. Mueller at lisa.mueller@browardschools.com
We have noted a significant increase in students arriving to school late. Our campus opens at 7:30 and students are welcome to eat breakfast in our cafeteria and/or complete an Accelerated Reader test in the Media Center. Effective once again tomorrow morning, the carline gates will be closed at 8:00 a.m. and all tardy students will need to be escorted to the office to receive a late pass...Every minute counts!
All students will be dismissed from school at noon this Friday, February 14th, for Early Release Day. Please report any change of dismissal to the teacher in advance. It is also our Day of Service and Love. Students will be decorating gift bags for the first responders with messages and/or images of encouragement, appreciation and support. All students are welcome to wear red, pink, hearts, or messages of love/kindness.
We have two dates for Kindergarten Round-Up: Thursday, February 20th, 6:00 p.m. and Friday, February 21st, 9:00 a.m. for all incoming Kindergarten students. Please help us by sharing with neighbors and within the community. All visitors will sign-in with their identification.
Have a great week ahead!
Your Principal,
Michael A. Breslaw
