  • Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year!

I am honored and humbled to start my 11th year as the Principal of Eagle Point Elementary and I want to take this opportunity to renew my commitment to serve this community as a passionate advocate for academic excellence and equity in education. As a values-based educator and leader, I maintain a strong belief that we can co-create new pathways for our students by utilizing creativity and innovation in our academic programing. My beliefs lie in ensuring the academic success of ALL children and in elevating the learning capacity of our students by developing their leadership habits and teaching students to take ownership of their learning. Students at Eagle Point Elementary possess the skills needed to lead their own learning by working closely with their teachers to assess their needs, set appropriate goals, and carry out action plans. They track progress toward goals in Leadership Notebooks and share these notebooks with adults in student-led conferences.

This past year, Eagle Point Elementary went through an arduous certification process where we were measured in three key area: teaching leadership principles, creating a leadership culture, and aligning academic systems. I am so proud to report that we earned the coveted distinction of becoming the first Broward County Public Schools, Lighthouse Certified Leader in Me School.

I look forward to a continued partnership this year. As always, you can find me at the front gate in the morning, the carline in the afternoon, and I am always either a phone call or email away.

    Yours in Education,

    Christy de Zayas
