Skills like commitment, leadership, effective communication, and being able to work successfully in a group all come from participating in a club or organization. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and boost your college resumé.

    Oriole SOAR-BOTICS Robotics Team

    Meeting Days: Tuesday 2:00 - 3:00 and the first Friday of the month from 2:00 – 3:00

    Oriole offers a Robotics team for 3rd – 5th grade scholars.  SOAR-BOTICS is dedicated to bringing together diverse individuals and breaking barriers to create an inclusive environment within the world of STEM.  Our Oriole Elementary “SOAR-BOTICS” Robotics Team is an introduction to robotic engineering and computer science.  Robotic Engineers are responsible for designing, testing, and building robots. Students in robotics work together to design, build and program robots. They later compete alongside other Robotics teams in a variety of game-based engineering challenges. Classroom STEM concepts are put to the test as students learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications, and more.  Our SOAR-BOTICS meet weekly; but additional times and dates may be added during competition season and will be shared with students and parents.

    Meeting Days: Tuesdays & Fridays 2:30 – 4:30

    Oriole Elementary 3rd- 5th grade scholars have the opportunity to participate in athletics, learn good sportsmanship, and learn to balance schoolwork and extra-curricular activities. There are 4 in-house squads and 1 travel team, all of which are coached by volunteers.   All teams operate from November through February.  Practice and games are held after school.  Annually, we host our Oriole Draft Day and athletes are assigned to their team for the season.  Our Oriole Travel Team participates in the Elementary Basketball League, playing various public schools in Broward County.  Through partnership with Lauderdale Lakes Middle and Boyd Anderson High School, our scholars play games on both middle and high school courts.  Our Basketball team is always looking for volunteers for coaching, running the clock, and score keeping.   For more information on our Oriole Basketball, contact Ms. Hunter.

    Meeting Days: Tuesday

    Oriole offers a cheerleading club for 3rd – 5th grade cheer scholars. The students meet every Tuesday, 2:30 – 4:00pm to rehearse their routines.  Oriole’s Cheer Squad offers a physical, exciting, and fun approach to learning the basics of cheer, along with mentoring, and along with etiquette and study skills.  Our cheerleaders cheer at all Oriole Basketball games, participate in local parades (MLK Parade, Lauderdale Lakes’ Black Excellence Parade), and performs at varied school events.  Our cheerleaders partner with their cheer mentors from Boyd Anderson High School often for cheer clinics and Homecoming game performances.  Annually our cheerleaders host the Father-Daughter Dance fundraiser, it is one of most popular school events.  For more information on our Oriole Cheerleaders, contact Ms. Walden, Ms. Holmes, or Ms. Walker.

    Oriole offers a Debate team for 3rd – 5th grade scholars.  Oriole’s Debate Club aims to empower scholars with the skills to express their beliefs clearly and concisely.  Scholars learn how to engage in public speaking and use effective communication strategies in a formal setting.  Students work together to strengthen their literacy, writing, and oral presentation skills.  Scholars meet weekly to learn more about the art of debating through a variety of media and work to prepare for upcoming debate matches.  For more information contact our Oriole coach, Ms. Black.

    Oriole Elementary’s Inclusion Champions is our newest scholar enrichment club.  This group evolved naturally following a SAVE Promise Community activity.  Our Inclusion Champions are 4th and 5th grade scholars that have chosen to commit to supporting underrepresented groups of students. Our Inclusion Champions meet weekly during lunch to engage in collaborative activities.  Additionally, they have organized varied activities for the Day of Service and Love and Newcomer students.  For more information on our Inclusion Champion sponsors: Ms. Hackley and Mrs. Newell.

    Oriole Elementary’s Gardening Club is a community of soaring nature enthusiasts who come together to explore the wonders of gardening. Led by teachers, the club encourages students to dig into the soil, plant seeds of curiosity, and watch as their learning blooms. From planting colorful flowers to learning about fruits and vegetables, the Oriole Elementary Garden Club is a haven where young minds grow alongside the flourishing plants they nurture.  Through community partnership, our club participants engage in varied learning opportunitites.     Oriole SAVE Promise/ Safety Patrols

    Oriole Elementary’s SAVE Promise Club/ Safety Patrols work daily to represent good citizenship and care for their fellow Oriole.   SAVE Promise/ Safety Patrol is an opportunity for 4th and 5th grade scholars an opportunity to provide leadership and community service opportunities to our students, while ensuring the safety of all at Oriole Elementary. These student leaders have the responsibility to show positive leadership and act as role models for the student body in all capacities, even coordinating Community Conversations between scholars and community officials regarding safety topics. Being selected to serve as a Patrol is a great honor and privilege.  Our SAVE Promise/ Safety Patrols also partner with Autism team to champion inclusion initiatives on our campus ensuring that every Oriole SOARS every day.
