We have our HANDS ON SCIENCE at HHE! 

Science is HANDS-ON at Hollywood Hills Elementary School! Our students are natural scientists. STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) is a way of life here. Our students utilize various scientific methods to explore and discover the world around them.  In Science Lab, students learn through inquiry-based hands-on investigations aligned to the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Science. Our scientists use the “5 C’s”. We collaborate, cooperate and communicate consistently with our colleagues. We experiment. We collect and record data. We analyze the data. We ask, “What is the data telling me? What does the data mean? Then we make conclusions based on the data. We problem solve! 

Our science laboratories consist of an indoor science lab and multiple out door learning environments such as our gardens and natural habitats. Students explore in our butterfly garden, native garden, rose garden and landscapes. Additionally, our Aftercare Program has planted a fruit and vegetable garden. Our school campus is home to a wide variety of plant and animal life including threatened burrowing owls. Hollywood Hills Elementary is recognized as National Wildlife Certified Habitat and we have just been awarded a Guardianship Award for the work we do to protect the Burrowing Owls.
