Mitshuca B. Moreau, MS. Ed., Principal
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! Words cannot express my excitement for this year and I am honored to continue serving this wonderful school and community. Dr. MLK will continue to strive to provide a stellar education for all of our students. This year we will continue to make strides to reach the minimum letter grade of a “B”!
Our vision for the next few years is to continue to “Engage the entire school community in the pursuit of achieving reading proficiency in a nurturing learner-focused environment.” We cannot accomplish this without the support of all stakeholders!
With over 90% of our staff returning for another fantastic year at Dr. MLK, the highest percent ever in the past few years, we will work as a family to support our students to reach their highest potential.
I want to congratulate the Dr. MLK staff and students on maintaining our letter grade of a “C”. That success was the result of hard work and team effort from the entire staff, teachers, students and families. We increased from 27% in FSA ELA to 33%; we maintained and/or increased math proficiency in every grade level. The Lowest 25% went from 39% to 64% in ELA. These are outstanding accomplishments. “We truly believe in working together to achieve excellence for all of our students.”
I am excited to see our students back in the halls and the grounds of the campus. This year we will take every opportunity to promote the wonderful things happening each and every day through social media.
I would like to continue to invite all of you to become active participants in your child's education by joining our School Advisory Council (SAC), PTA, or volunteering your time at one of our many events; when you are involved with your child's school, they understand the importance you place on their education.
Your Proud Principal,
Mitshuca B. Moreau
