Principal's Message

  • Ms. Allen

    Dear Lloyd Estates Families,

Thanks for visiting our website. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your children to Lloyd Estates Elementary School, home of the “Tigers”, for the 2020-21 school year! The unexpected invasion of COVID-19 in March has definitely changed education forever. We had to learn quickly in order to implement an e-learning remote digital classroom to close out the school year and we successfully did it. The summer has given us time to reflect on lessons learned, participate in training and explore digital tools that will enhance learning. Change can be a good thing!

As we welcome you back this school year, I wanted to touch base with you on a few important things. First and foremost, be assured we will do our very best to maintain a sense of normalcy and calm at school despite the model that is selected. I am sure our students have many questions, and we will do our best to care for them academically and most importantly emotionally. We appreciate you choosing our school to educate and nurture your child. We are honored to have this opportunity to make this year a unique and valuable experience.

Our theme and focus this school year will be KEY- We hold the KEYS - Knowing Equity Yields Success! In education, the term equity refers to the principle of fairness. While it is often used interchangeably with the related principle of equality, equity encompasses a wide variety of educational models, programs, and strategies that may be considered fair, but not necessarily equal. Please keep in mind that equity will be our key to success.

It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal.  Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children. You are encouraged to be involved!  Research on schools clearly demonstrates that parent participation in their child’s school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for their child.

We will continue to differentiate the curriculum and structure much of our day utilizing RtI, (Response to Intervention) when deemed necessary, and equity to meet the needs of all of our students. Every child will be provided a quality instructional experience.

Remember, we hold the KEYS - “Knowing Equity Yields Success!”

Thanks for allowing me to serve you and your children.

    Ms. Shawn Allen
