Principal's Message
-
Dear Students, Parents and Community.
Welcome to another FABULOUS year at Lanier-James Education Center, where second chances are a first-class opportunity. I am your proud principal, Dr. Carletha Shaw- Rolle.
I am excited to begin another year as the principal. I have learned so much over the last year and I am more prepared than ever to give our students the best experience possible.
The teachers and I are committed to cultivating a school that puts students first. I see the services we provide our students as a three-legged stool:
- The first leg is academics. Teaching and learning is our core business. We are here to provide students with an educational experience that accelerates, remediates, and keeps them on track to meet graduation requirements along with their similar-age peers.
- The second leg is social emotional learning. We must teach students how to manage their behaviors and actions, to be in tune with how others interpret their behavior and actions and to be responsible for the decisions of their behaviors and actions.
- The third leg is discipline. We understand that discipline is not always punitive. Discipline is a process that students get to practice in a controlled environment (school) so that they are successful in other spaces.
We will continue with our theme of: Lanier-James Education Center: Where Second Chances are a First-Class Opportunity.
We have an exciting year planned for our students and we hope you find it fitting to join us as we make great things happen!
Dr. Carletha B. Shaw-Rolle, Principal Leader
