Principal's Message

    Good Day Flamingo Family,

As we start the 2023-2024, I want to welcome everyone to the very best elementary school in Broward. Schools are a place where children come to learn, but what makes Flamingo so special is the faculty and staff who come each day to serve our children and their families. They are collectively the very best faculty and staff ever assembled in one school.

I want to begin by congratulating Ms. Alicia McNabb, as she was appointed as our new assistant principal at the School Board Meeting this summer.  I am very confident that she will continue the excellence that Ms. Arroyo provided over the years, and we wish her much success in her new position.  Taking her place as our new Curriculum Coach will be the former Literacy Coach at Davie Elementary, Ms. Johanna Giunta.  We welcome her to our Flamingo Family, and she will no doubt bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our school.

For those families that have an incoming kindergarten student attending Flamingo this coming year, we have a special kindergarten screening on Saturday, August 12.  At this screening we will be conducting a brief academic assessment in order to ensure that your child is properly placed, and we can provide the necessary academic plan to ensure that they excel.  All families who attend will receive a special gift of school supplies to either bring to school or to leave at home to use for homework.  School supply lists are on our website.

Our Meet and Greet is Friday, August 18, 2023

    PreK, Kinder, and 1st Grade:   8:30AM -9:30AM

    2nd-3rd Grade:            9:45AM -10:45AM

    4th-5th Grade:            11:00AM -12:00PM

The first day of the 2023-2024 school year is August 21.

I hope each and every one is having a wonderful summer and are relaxing and spending quality time with your loved ones.  Before you know it, we will be back at school to once again provide a world-class education to our students.  Although school grades were not calculated this past year because learning gains were not given due to the new State Assessment, i am confident if they were calculated, Flamingo would have received our second consecutive "A" school grade.

Please feel free to reach out to Ms. McNabb or me directly if I can assist you in any way. This will be our very best year!
