Who Takes Reading Classes?

Students scoring Level 1 or Level 2 in Reading on the 2011 FCAT are required to take reading during the school year. Pompano Beach Middle School scheduling procedures closely follow the Broward School District Reading Placement Chart. Students scoring below 270 on the FCAT are required to take 2 hours of reading in lieu of other electives.

Every Student is a Reader

We encourage every student to practice skills on FCAT Explorer. Students receive log-on passwords from Ms. Shivers, our Reading Coach. If a student needs a password, he/she can contact either their Reading or Language Arts teacher.

Mrs. Braziel's Book Club

Mrs. Braziel meets monthly with students participating in our Accelerated Reader Program who meet monthly goals. Mrs. Braziel rewards students with field trips, Breakfast with the Principal and pizza parties.
