Principal's Message

    Cypress Families,

Congratulations on completing another Owl-Standing year at Cypress Elementary. On behalf of the Cypress school community, we wish our 2021 5th Grade class continued success in middle school.  To our new families, thank you for choosing Cypress and entrusting us with your precious children. Welcome to our Cypress Family!

We definitely had a very different and challenging but productive year with much to celebrate. Accomplishments to celebrate this year include, but not limited to, increased community participation in the school events: Light Up Cypress Night, Gear into Summer book drive, FSA Parent Informational Night, etc. that we were able to have even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, we are completely done with construction through the S.M.A.R.T Bond dollars with the new marquee being the last of many improvements. Safety is our #1 priority, new cameras were installed necessary for the utmost security at all times, with enhanced technology to concentrate on our most important task; Teaching and Learning!

What we are most proud of, is the quick transition our students, parents and staff made to Virtual Learning and then back to Face-to-Face Learning. WOW is an understatement, for the quick learning that took place to ensure we continue to provide a high-quality education to all our kids through the use of technology. As your principal, I am so proud at the dedication, commitment, collaboration and perseverance everyone demonstrated to get the JOB done! Our accomplishments are made possible by our EXTRAordinary families and staff. Thank you for your love, support and loyalty!

Summer is here and this is the time students and families look forward to many wonderful events.  Summer activities provide valuable experiences in which children learn about themselves and the world around them. Your child’s life can be enriched through reading and journal writing. Please make sure that your child’s day includes time that is set aside for independent reading. Reading is a “sport” with a 12-month season, so please ensure that your child makes it to “practice” every day. There are many resources for your child on the website. Take a look, see what you can find to keep your child engaged! I would like to thank you now for supporting your children with reading this year and thank you in advance for continuing during the summer. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Please stay tuned for information coming for the 2021-2022 school year. It is critical that you follow the updates sent through parentlinks and emails for the latest information.  You can also visit for any updates.  The school year officially starts on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

May you refuel this summer vacation with rest, relaxation and recreation as “We are Setting the Stage for Success” into the 2021-2022 school year!

    Thank you!

     Luckiest Principal,

     Vanessa Schnur
