School Social Work is a specialized service for helping families and students experiencing social, emotional, learning, and behavioral difficulties in the school setting. These difficulties may be presented as poor academic achievement, lack of motivation, difficulty remaining focused on tasks and truancy.
School social workers monitor student attendance and truancy cases, provide counseling to students and parents, serve as a liaison between school, family, and community, serve as a source of information regarding community resources, and make referrals to agencies as needed. At the high school level, Social Workers work closely with students to ensure regular attendance and assist them with meeting graduation requirements.
Referrals to the Social Worker can be made via teachers, staff, parents, or students themselves. You can contact the Social Worker at Flanagan, Emma Rockensies, L.C.S.W., Ed.S. at 754-323-0728.
